thats correct, you cannot "beat" an MMO

I get what you all mean, and I agree with you for the most part, but on the other hand, how true does that hold when the game is being made into a single-player friendly experience? At some point, there has to be a goal for the single-player experience to reach, right? Typically, that'd be the end of the story, right? Maybe with some post-game stuff, but I guess the gearing up would qualify as that for SamSmoot. Of course, further patches will bring story, so, while the MMO is being updated, there's at least that much, but when it finally stops getting more story, I wonder what the end will be for the single players.

I think it's interesting that this issue is normally viewed as "a feature" in any other instance, other than when someone finally asks "what else is there to do, if I'm not interested in these other things?"

I mean, the game is what it is. You certainly shouldn't feel obligated to do any/every thing.

If you are looking for suggestions on what to do, there are a lot of things to get into (try other jobs, try niche activities like Chocobo racing), but ultimately if none of that does it for you, do what I do: Play something else for a month or two, come back next major patch/cycle/expansion.

Doesn't even have to be games: it's getting into prime camping season where I live, so these days a lot of my time is blown on gear maintenance and cooking recipes.

I think the biggest thing is don't feel like you're forced to play for the sake of playing. If it's not fun, take a step back for a few days. If that few days turns into a month, consider unsubbing to save money. If you walk away but still like popping in every couple of days to socialize, that's fine too.

If you've avoiding alliance raids on the misapprehension that's they are "savage", you are probably missing out on a considerable amount of mid-skill-range side content like alliances, eight-man raids (story level) and optional trials.

Getting a house...now that's TRUE Savage level content!

I've finally collected enough tomestones and nuts to get all my gear up to ilevel 600 (except weapon).
Now I feel like there's nothing left to do. I have enough gil, so gathering and crafting have no purpose. I was collecting MGP for the pod mount, only to discover that I also need to do savage content to get it, but there's no way I'm going to manage any savage runs, so is there any other reason to log in?

Why do you think that? There are a lot of chill statics that are running savage for the fun of it that are a good place to learn the ropes and improve in a supportive environment.

I can go on but, point is, there is a ton of content that isn't related to the MSQ. I highly recommend doing your blue quests that you haven't and seeing what's behind them. For example, if you haven't done Hildebrand's quests...hard recommend. They're a fun time.
