Why are there even small plots?

Nobody wants a small unless its the only option available.

Erm, unless you've surveyed or spoken to every active FFXIV player, your personal experience with some dozens - or maybe even hundreds - of players says nothing about what the other millions want. One popular YouTube video does not mean "everyone." One Reddit thread with 10k upvotes does not mean "everyone." You being certain in your head does not mean "everyone."

I do not know where you got this idea, but none of the preceding examples even suggest a majority. Barring the last, they only suggest a moderately popular opinion.

I prefer a small plot at this point in my FFXIV journey. And I am not in any way unique - there are others that share my opinion. That's why I'd never state that "everyone wants small plots and the only reason people buy medium or large is if there's nothing else available." Because that's silly. I don't know what "everyone" wants. Either here or in real life (a huge lesson that hundreds of millions of humans still need to learn... but I digress.)

Reasons:

- I do have enough Gil to bid on a medium plot. I don't want to spend all my Gil on that plot and be broke.
- A small plot takes a fair portion of my Gil that I wouldn't be bothered to part with.
- I can furnish a small house with the items I've got in my apartment, plus a reasonable additional amount I can afford.
- I could not furnish a medium house for two reasons:
----A) I'd be broke after the plot purchase; and
----B) Even if I was not broke after the purchase, I don't have an income sufficient to furnish that medium house in any reasonable amount of time.
- Aesthetically, I like the cozy look of a small plot and house. As in real life, not everyone wants the sprawling mansion on the hill, even if they have the money. Personally, even if I won the Mega Millions tomorrow, I wouldn't go get some enormous house. I really only want what my wife and I need; the excess would seem a terrible waste to me. I live in a medium-sized house now, and I'd just live in a badass ultra-modern medium-sized house in a different location after the win. Six swimming pools and a spa room aren't needed in my life.

Anyway, realistically - since we're talking video games here and not real life - Gil is an issue for many players. Again, just because you may have hundreds of millions, or your FC has hundreds of millions, or your favorite streamer has hundreds of millions, or you saw a Reddit thread with 50k upvotes where every response was "I have hundreds of millions of Gil," doesn't mean that everyone - or even a majority - has access to the finances needed for a medium or large.

At any point in life, you should be speaking for yourself, not for others - and especially when you don't have a reasonably factual idea of what "everyone else" wants.

You don't know what "everyone else" wants either nor should you be speaking for others. (just what you told me) My point still stands, Small's are the least desired plot that MANY choose out of a last resort.

If they changed the benefits from large to small that would change it quite a bit.

What are you going on about? The post was nothing about all this garbage you posted here. People like you who just love the moment you can jump in and pretend YOU know what EVERYONE wants. I don't know where you got it in your head either. What YouTube video?
Your gil amount does NOT speak for the masses. If anything I would say you are in the minority with your gil being so low. Gil is easy to make.

You literally are trying to "speak for the masses". What reddit thread? What youtube video? What streamer? What the actual hell are you talking about aside from NONSENSE. No video, no streamer, no reddit thread has led me to make this post. Just being with this game since 1.0 has.

Ya'll over here clamoring "you don't speak for me" or "your info is wrong" or whatever the hell you want. Just because there are a few people who don't try to make gil means nothing. 50k? you literally can get that before leaving the first city-state you start in. Quit using laziness as an excuse to try and make a point. Who needs hundreds of millions of gil? you dont need "hundreds of millions" Most expensive house is 50mil for a large)

Moderately popular opinion is more than the several that came in here saying they love their smalls. I don't need to scour the internets for that nor is it far fetched like most of your examples. Again, this is my opinion, that is yours. No reddit post, you tube video, or favorite streamer is wupporting EITHER of our "opinions" Though I would say its more leaning my way than yours.

You like your small, great! But you don't speak for everyone nor do you need to try to "Be Right". Go "be right" somewhere else instead of trying to lecture me about things you are doing yourself. (reading reddit threads on housing and gil) lol

The thing is, you dont have to! You can just go with patience and slowly build it up. Who cares that it takes 2 years before your house is finaly done? To me that just sounds like 2 years of something that you can actively go for as side activity.

Once you are done with your small house, and then want to upgrade, its going to be a lot more difficult. Future proofing is on that something i generaly think is better. But yeah, a small house is most likely easier to get, which i think in the current state is still better. A small house simply gave better lotery chances.
