toxic casuals is not a lie, sorry to burst your bubble. and i did not ignore everything you had to say. if anything, you ignored what i wrote, as i was just talking about UI mods for disabled folks, i wrote nothing about "all these parsing addons" being required. you brought up ACT, i explained to you what ACT is since you apparently didn't know much about it.


edit: this is a genuine question - but what kind of addons do you think people would want to be required for savage content? the biggest issue folk have is with misunderstanding what ACT is. the plugins that are getting people banned are cosmetic, which wouldnt be required even if this game was designed around plugins.

just to note, most groups require you to look up your rotations and guides for savage fights and beyond in XIV, so we're going to leave that out.

1) players be punished for harassment
2) players be punished for having plugins at all, while having them on stream, while bothering nobody and creating expectations for nobody

Because the toxic casual playerbase has sworn up and down it's the former, and have only ever behaved like they want the latter.

It's not that you guys don't want mandatory addons. You don't want them to exist. At all. And you're using "potential harassment" as a smokescreen for your need to burn books.

Ridding the game of addons is a slippery slope. Let's say people do get rid of things like ACT. Y'know what else ends up on the chopping block? Simple graphical mods, which a not insignificant percentage of the player-base enjoy. The loss of analytical tools will negatively impact a fair portion of the raiding community, while the subsequent loss of graphical mods will most strongly impact role-players, glamour chasers, and those that simply play the game to unwind. While obviously not every member of a given demographic will depart from the game as a result, enough will that it'll make a very apparent difference.

@OP I love, your bravery, in sharing this, it's needed to have been said a long time ago, and I agree with your sentiments on completing all content w/o the use of 3RD Party Programs, and Mods!

It sure is wild, how much hate and toxicity have been thrown at the OP, for sharing his honesty with everyone here, triggering so many, "I only use Addons because of the QoL, and Updates to current systems they provide." people.

More people, like the OP, should feel that they too, can come forth, with their unpopular truths and express them freely and bravely too!

i know this is a troll post, but there are some casual players who truly believe this stuff… which is ironic because they always advocate about how anyone should be able to play the game, right? Including those with disabilities who may need third party tools. I have a friend who has severe vision problems - they use mods to change the UI color and make it bigger and clearer so they can see. This game’s default ui setting is absolutely garbage, and forces those with vision issues (color blind folk too) to resort to mods.

But accessibility should only be done by dumbing down jobs and content, not through basic polish or UI configurability. Duh.

Surely accessibility isn't about the number of additional players you let enjoy the game, but rather about reducing the number of players who may enjoy certain parts of the game more than you (RP, Ultimate, the combat itself, collecting, etc), no?
