Remove lottery, but also remove artificial scarcity of plots in all sizes. You want a gil sink? You damn well can make one if you bothered.
I'll take a large plot any day over a golden mount to delete gil with.

You guys are wasting your time making silly huge sweeping suggestions like "Just make infinite wards" or "Just make instance infinite housing!" or "Just completely overhaul the entire ward system with instancing". They are never going to do that nor are they capable of it. Think smaller with changes.
Lotto sucks, their systems have always sucked for buying houses, they do need an overhaul, but i don't think they even know what to do for housing at this point, small indie company n all that jazz
I wanted to write a sarcastic post in response… but you’re sadly right. I mean, has there been any moderator interaction on this sub forum in nearly a decade? I mean, it’s far more important for the devs to buff black mage in pvp!You guys are wasting your time making silly huge sweeping suggestions like "Just make infinite wards" or "Just make instance infinite housing!" or "Just completely overhaul the entire ward system with instancing". Seeing the swarm of players this morning going from location to location looking for personal plots to bid on, I’ll be shocked if I have a greater than 2% chance of winning the plot I desire. And heck, with the new data center opening? At the volume of demand on my server alone, we could take every medium personal plot if they adhere to the god awful 75/25 split.
But let’s think smaller! Maybe, for the moonfire festival they’ll release a new piece of outdoor furniture that will be useless because my current yard and storage is at capacity.
Island Sanctuaries better be freakin amazing.
I picked the absolute worst plot I could find for a small thinking it would have relatively low bids. (yes, yes, I know, I should have waited and been a sniper. But I got mine stolen by a sniper last time and didn't want to do that to someone else)
Already 3 bids on it. I'm relatively new to this game, but these housing issues are by far the largest blemish on this game.
Yup! I love this game, but this is the only feature that frustrates me to the point that I complain. I’ve found classes I love to play, I enjoy raiding and pvp. The story and music are masterclasses. The community is great. Heck, this morning when placing a bid I was wishing my competitors good luck because they deserve the house just as much as I do. There is so much to love about this game.
Except the inability to get the damn house I want.
No, I think us thinking small and trying to be reasonable is what's got us into this situation. You guys are wasting your time making silly huge sweeping suggestions like "Just make infinite wards" or "Just make instance infinite housing!" or "Just completely overhaul the entire ward system with instancing". They are never going to do that nor are they capable of it. Think smaller with changes.
We did not design this system and we are not the ones insisting it's houses in wards or nothing.
We've been asking small and getting band-aids on a broken system that is never going to be able to meet demand. I've had enough. I would like a house for my FC in a nice position close to amenities and I'd like to be able to choose the size. It's not asking for the moon.
Other games manage to provide really good housing systems for all players who want it; this game advertises housing and fails to tell you, until you are in, that on a busy world you have only a tiny chance of actually getting a house and an even tinier chance of getting a house that is the size you want and in a location of your choosing.
It's not good enough. The shortage of housing has been an issue since I first subbed at the begining of HW. It's time the devs stopped tinkering around the edges and actually got down and did something to solve it.
2. The lotto system prevents housing bots and makes it so everybody has an equal shot at getting a house. If you didnt win then suck it up and drive on. We all already know RNG is a pain but its fair.
Strike like lightning, roll like thunder
2 - I prefer this over sitting at a placard clicking for hours. Everyone has the same opportunity now to purchase a home. They should add more personal wards, and keep the demolition timer, without it you'll have homes that aren't being used that can go to someone actively playing the game or at least bothering to login and run into their house.

The issue we have right now is the introduction of FC and Personal only wards. It wouldn't be an issue if it was introduced when housing first came out, but we are so far gone now that we have people that pretty much own entire wards to themselves. Figure something out to dwindle these numbers down, and you open up more space for FC's, and then open up a few more personal wards afterwards. Either that, or just completely remove personal housing and make housing FC only.
I would love a personal large for myself to lounge around with my personal friends while we craft/chat until morning, but the sudden decision to cut the wards without solving an issue we already have in game was a stretch. Something needs to change, the game has been out long enough for people to have loads of gil sitting around for personal housing. The amount of larges does not meet demand at all.
