I understand that to have enough samples for data, they pretty well need the logs themselves to be "opt out" rather than "opt in," but... why not at least have them be anonymous by default (until that, at least, is opted in)? The feature's right there; why wasn't it made the baseline? /sigh

I believe FFXIV is very clear where it stands on mods and 3rd party apps. Every six months or so they reiterate their stance which seems to send those openly/discreetly violating the TOS into an uproar. They begin to act like victims (most likely from guilt) and begin to defend violating TOS with their 3rd party apps under the excuses of that high-end raids are designed for them to be used (they aren't) and that what they do doesn't hurt anyone (true but it is still violating TOS).

End of the day, violate TOS, people have every right to report you and you have every right to be banned. Claiming victim now and that you are targeted by toxic casuals when you're the ones streaming with these add-ons openly is a YOU problem, not the folks reporting you problem and I think it goes to show how these add ons DO breed toxicity.

You don't think for a second if they added a parser for DPS people wouldn't gatekeep all content with it? "Oh, well we have FFlogs." Very easy to block and filter yourself out and no that doesn't automatically mean DPS shame. It means, my DPS and how I play is absolutely NONE of your business.

I get it, getting judged for your dps is embarrassing and frustrating but you don't learn if someone doesn't tell you. When I got told my dps wasn't up to par when I first started, I started working on my rotation.

Consecutive criticism =/= harassment

If someone is being nice about your low damage, or dying to mechanics, then you should take that in stride.

If someone is being mean and outright bullying you, then leave and report player. That's it.

This witch hunt against mods in FFXIV will lead into them putting in anti-chest software that will piss off everyone. Tbh most anti-cheat is invasive and that's the point Yoshi-P is making with not wanting to continue with the whole parser/mods. He intentionally left that matter in the gray area so satisfying both parties.

In-game parser is not happening. But wanting them to prevent 3rd party parsers and non-cheating mods will only drive people away from the game.

Graphic mods do not hurt anyone as only the person that has the mods can see it. And Gshade is there to improve the game's horrible lighting system. P3 is disgusting with its orange color overload and some of the areas have really really poor lighting. Again, it doesn't effect anyone else.

No, people should not cheat in the new Ultimate, but mods have shown to the devs that they need work on making the UI better (and they admitted this). Not only is it ugly to look at, the information it shows sucks.

Instead of go on a witch hunt for everyone who uses mods (there's a lot of people), how about we encourage the devs to improve the game instead of fulfilling a crusade against people who only want to raid properly.

I am proud to play on PS5 and have played console since 2013 with zero issues and zero need for 3rd party apps or mods. The game isn't designed and CATERED to PC players and never will be.

To be fair, even that wouldn't do, as their logs not showing up would be equally a "mark of shame". It'd have to read instead as something like "This player has not yet claimed their logs or has not yet allowed you to follow them."

I realize that sounds like setting the website as a whole to "opt out" by default, and from a player search perspective it is; the difference is merely that the anonymized logs are still available to fflogs' body of data for larger-sample class-comparison metrics and the like.
