Crafting. How it works, please , help?

Hi guys!
Please, explain how it works.
When crafting, do you have to ALWAYS put on the clothes that are meant for that profession, and then put on your armor again? Maybe there is some kind of macro or something like that. Putting on and then taking off clothes every time is not very convenient. Maybe, there is something I should know?

1. Yes.
2. You create crafting gear sets and switch to them the same way you create and switch to other gear sets (on the character screen, pressing the shield icon [I think] to bring up the gear set list, pressing the + icon [I think] to create a new gear set, and then clicking/selecting the gear set you want to switch to.)

No, you can create a gear set and drag it from the list to your hotbar for quick changing. You can also use /gearset [number] to make a macro but dragging won't take up a macro slot.

Yes. Disciples of Hand (aka Crafting Jobs) are technically separate jobs from your regular one unlike some other MMOs where it's just few skills. Since FFXIV allows you to switch jobs on fly the game also allows you to create numerous gear loadouts that you can switch into at any time except when engaged in combat or during duties.

This is what Gear Sets are for. You unlock Gear Sets when you unlock a new class. When you have put on the gear for that class, refer to the picture above and then click the +. When you want to switch to another Gear Set, just click on it and equip. You can drag Gear Sets onto your hotbar so that you can switch even faster.
