I find it a bit ironic that you took the time to come into this thread and chastise eight different people because they spoke to what I believe was the main point the OP was making. Their reference to "stop attacking each other" did not list a specific grievance so I had no idea who was attacking whom or what about. I could be wrong, but I think they opened the thread the way they did for effect.

If you want to make the world a better place may I suggest that if all you have is a complaint you are welcome to keep it to yourself.

They lie. They say something cannot be done and then some modder goes and proves it can be done. I never want to hear from a dev, 'that is not possibe'.

It is possible. They just do not want to devote the time and resources to it. Which is fine! That is entirely their decision to make. But I refuse to sit and smile while they lie to my face repeatedly.

The housing system is bad. They need to add instanced housing. They CAN do it. They may not think it is worth the effort. It may conflict with what they want housing to be. That does not change the fact that it can be done.

So let's come together as a community and force the issue. Direct our anger not at each other but at a system that is so very very very bad and entirely unnecessary.

Instanced housing in other games surpassed anything this game has shown so far, even PVP matches could be held in some of the private instanced zones yes we had various sized zones to decorate and build on from very small to immense!! not just a couple floors with 400 limit...and we could control weather, the skies!! EVERYTHING.
Players can still visit and enjoy other peoples buildings same as here .

No downfall to instanced IF they put some thought into it and used plyers suggestions when doing it.

The empty neighborhoods (for years), the same few styles of homes over and over and over, the extremely small item limits and "lot" size, the inability to build from scratch, and poor UI in FFXIV are no comparison.

The core of the issue will always be there isn't enough housing to go around. IF they can managed to create enough wards for everyone to have their own house, fine. But as things stand there is enough housing for maybe 10% or so of the population on a given server. It could be even less depending on how many houses are monopolized by our virtual multi-account overlords. It's immensely frustrating to even try to get a house and I often give up as soon as I start looking.

Actually, once the new NA and EU data centers are up, there will be plenty of houses to go around if people are willing to shift servers. We are already seeing empty wards in Materia even after the 1st round of lottery and it's going to be the same in the new NA and EU data centers.

Especially with the new data center travel implemented in patch 6.18, there's no reason not to move servers if you want a house and still want to see your friend.

If everyone can get their own personal instanced island (which is cool but nobody asked for it as far as I'm aware), then the devs most certainly could have introduced instanced houses.

Only because they had given up all hope of getting a house. The issue here is the short supply of houses, which had the knock-on effect of limiting the supply of gardens and FC workshops.

There are approximately 780,000 active characters over level 60 on NA worlds right now. Once the 4 new worlds are added this summer and that housing opened (probably in the Fall), there will be 201,600 houses to cover all those characters plus all the FCs that want houses.

How is that enough for NA players, even keeping in mind that about half those active characters are likely alts?

You need to keep in mind that Materia is in a unique situation (for now). The number of active characters over level 60 roughly matches the number of available houses but many of those characters belong to new players still learning game systems and figuring out how to make gil.

Also, data center travel will not be the boon you make it out to be for those who both want a house and want to play with their friends on another data center. If you're spending all your time on one data center to play with your friends, what's the point of having a house on a different data center that you'll only be able to visit with an annoying log out/log in process?

Right now, visiting my house (or the FC house or apartments for my house) is an integrated part of my game play. It's very easy to swing by my house to garden or check my retainers as I go from one bit of content to the next. If I were to transfer to the new data center but wanted to continue to play with my friends here, I could no longer do that.

The new worlds will be a boon for those who aren't active in a game community or prefer solo, self-sufficient play. They won't help those who enjoy being part of the active communities they already belong to. And they're not going to add nearly enough housing for the NA and EU players that are still trying to get a house.
