I've been playing a lot longer than you, and still currently play. The last time I saw meters brought up in a "jeering" way was a week or so ago when two friends were bantering about their tank hps.

The reality is this: If parsers are allowed, within 24 hours you will see some one screaming obscenities and spamming dps meters...........in Sastasha.

Deny it all you like...its no more than the truth.

And so instead, we have the toxic casual playerbase demanding that nobody be *allowed* to crunch their numbers, lest the sky fall.

The point of what I said, which flew right over your head, is that the toxic casual community is fantastically hypocritical in their need to play a videogame, complain -endlessly- about letting people enjoy the parts of it they enjoy, and then immediately turn around and scream BURN THE WITCH! The moment someone dares to, oh, I dunno, enjoy playing something in a different way

The evil "elitist" wants to tabulate their numbers as part of a quest for improvement. A toxic casual wants to prevent the evil elitist from doing this, because that quest for improvement may make them look *gasp* incompetent by comparison. That's literally it, all else is what-if fearmongering that conveniently ignores both the fact that harassment is ALREADY against the TOS, and that toxic casuals blithely bitch about "elitists" all the time without censure.

You are aware that DPS measurement tools already exist right? And that they have existed literally since ARR? Why, pray tell, have we not seen wide spread harassment in all that time since?

Except, this runs contrary to evidence from any MMO in which parsers are widely accepted?

If someone ever brought up your numbers in your 8 years of playing WoW outside of friendly competition, let's face it, they were pointing out a problem that goes well beyond just what some little bar in the corner of their screen was telling them.

Outside of potato laptop players asking for their own numbers from those running a parser, I've seen numbers come up perhaps... 5 or 6 times, across normal and heroic raiding, RBGs, and a ton of M+.

In the end, all I see is this.

What has been said here, and many of the attitudes towards other players, cements what YoshiP has said and why. That you cheerfully deny what happens every day in WOW that has a dps meter merely proves my point.
