No, damage meter won't solve any PF problems. It's a useful tool for measuring performance in high content. And as said before I do not agree that we will have "an influx of toxic behavior".so we have players who bully others and gatekeep content from lower skilled players, and to fix that you want to add a tool that will allow even more widespread bullying and gatekeeping? you say i'm the one under a misconception, but you have this delusion that adding parses will magically fix all the problems with PF parties and that we won't have an influx of toxic behavior. you cannot seriously be this naïve .

hence why i said you are suffering from a delusion. We have enough toxicity in game as it is without giving more people an excuse to bully and exclude others

Damage Meters aren't needed for any high end content in this game, all of it is able to be completed without ever installing ACT of having anyone in your party with it. The dev team thoroughly tests it every time they release something new.
The amount of toxicity they generate isn't worth it. I reject your opinion entirely that they don't cause toxicity. I've seen enough of my friends playing WoW and the whispers they get when they dare to do less damage than is optimal or forget to update WeakAuras.
That culture of Addons, Meters, and Parsing to that extend should never be allowed to take root in this game, even at the high end content level.
If you're this concerned with gatekeeping players then just get a static instead of using PF.Honestly SSS could be useful, if when you complete it on a job it flags that you completed it. Then party finder could lock duties to only people who have cleared the SSS dummy for the fight. There are some issues with tuning for the SSS dummies, but it would be a huge start to just be able to filter out players who are not capable of doing the damage needed to clear the fight even without mechanics.

Sometimes static members have to miss a week due to real life, maybe multiple ones at once if some of your group is family. On those weeks your options are to fill in with people you know who may or not be available (or already cleared that week for savage) or use party finder.
Some people are adults with busy lives and only have a few hours to devote to raid each week, why should their time be wasted by players who can't provide the minimum required damage to clear a fight without mechanics when a tool exists in game to measure that.

Why would DPS mains -ever- have anything that could possibly be construed as a benchmark for their success introduced into FFXIV? Whining about healers and tanks not doing their jobs is standard fare. Anything that could possibly reveal anything about a DPS's performance is vile heresy that blackens the tongue of any who dare speak it. FFXIV is way past giving the toxic casual playerbase any kind of pass/fail metric beyond just wiping in the content itself (where they can still imagine it's all the tank/healer's fault). Any remote potential that someone *could* possibly maybe pass any kind of judgement on a You Don't Pay My Sub player in any way, even if they don't say it out loud, if it puts the slightest judgemental thought in one single person's head, is strictly verboten.
DPS is the comparatively entitled role. Obviously so, since Shadowbringers. And I say this as a one who plays primarily DPS.Why would DPS mains -ever- have anything that could possibly be construed as a benchmark for their success introduced into FFXIV? We don't have any short-term pass/fail metrics out of a few fights, from among a couple difficulty tiers, of one type of content. We don't have any further role-specific duties. Even while we might switch goalposts on a dime in regard to the other roles, such that their job is, above all, to hasten runs in one encounter, and to, above all, heal or mitigate our everything (including our blatant mistakes) in the next, measures of our own contribution, by being solely and directly damage and therefore most easily gauged, can be rendered as "toxic".And the worry isn't even that it puts "a judgmental thought" in one's head; the rare wipe, or a run taking 30% longer than usual, is already enough for that. It's the worry that, empirically informed, people might better know what they're talking about, such that progress --rather than the stagnation of glaring matches, blind finger-pointing, or quickly disbanded parties-- becomes the norm.Yes, healers have their own Sylphies and tanks, much more rarely, have those who'd take their light party hostage over pairings of hypersensitivity and an oversized main-character complex if the remainder don't realize they can clear even without a tank (or a 4th for that matter), but getting past those are discrete milestones compared to getting past the idea that there is nothing wrong with learning from empirical data. Somehow the "numbers are scary (even when fully contextualized as to be far from abstract or misleading)" narrative is forever.

PF is the way it is, if you don't like it then get a static or don't raid that week. If you don't have a lot of time then you can just play when you have time, you don't have to clear everything immediately, you get almost 8 months between a savage tier coming out and an echo being put on it, and even then you can still beat it with echo enabled after that.Sometimes static members have to miss a week due to real life, maybe multiple ones at once if some of your group is family. On those weeks your options are to fill in with people you know who may or not be available (or already cleared that week for savage) or use party finder.

You aren't entitled to try to control other players in an MMO, if you want that level of control get a static or learn to accept PF the way it is now. Get that idea out of your head, just like DPS meters and requiring addons to play high end content. It will never be that way from the mouth of the director of the game. Absolutely not, never ever. If you're unhappy about this I'd invite you to pick up any other MMO that's more tolerant of your behavior.
