Because people will start demanding that you link your DPS to join a group. For veteran players like me "it doesn't matter". for new players who are just starting to learn "no group for you buddy. Play with the other rejects".
Literally has never happened in WoW in the 16+ years the game has been up.
You can get kicked if your dps is low, but you don't 'link dps to join a group'. There's not even a way to do that, especially if you haven't been in the fight before.
The former is avoided by...well, not being bad at your job.

This would also only apply to savage content. No one cares if you're bad in easy mode content, parser or not.

That's incorrect. Comparison is how you learn, something telling you 'you did 2k dps' isn't helpful, most people won't even know offhand if that's good or not.
Just have it not be useable in dungeons/easy content or something. The clear problem people have with it is that they're scared someone is gonna make mean comments to them, like that doesn't already happen, and they don't want to improve. Everything outside of savage/extreme/ultimate is way too easy for anyone to care about their damage there.

Or just add one no strings attached. Because the game's toxic casual playerbase shrieking about harassment has been fully mask-off over the last week, and we've all seen they're totally fine with harassment so long as it's directed at those dirty parsers. Let 'em all see how bad their damage is.

It's more clutter for the screen, honestly.

Is your item level sufficiently high? Are your melds optimal? Do you have the right food? Are you doing your rotation? Can you do your rotation while dodging mechanics?

Once you answer yes to all these, you're in good shape.

Clearing the fight is how we know. Watching who gets dropped and gets weakness too much is how we know. Numbers are irrelevant because they change from one thing to the next.

There's no justification for this meter at all. The content is designed and tested to be completed without it.

I cant think of any arguments better then the ones Yoshi-P made in that clip.

If the content is to hard without a DPS meter then they should lower the DPS requirement.

If there is a DPS requirement at all than dps meters are going to appear. The reason that DPS meters exist is to act as a way to improve and learn rotations on classes and understand the most efficient rotation for a situation. The thing is that while Yoshi P does state that he doesn't want to see people post "prove you can do XXX amount of damage" in PF, fundamentally the only way to avoid that scenario in practice is to make savage and ultimate not available in PF. In general, it's pretty hard to be bad at doing damage in this game since the rotations are much simpler and easier to handle. However, the content where damage matters also incorporates a lot more coordination that can lead to points of downtime. So while we avoid the problem of WoW Brutalis style checks, we're still bound by our ability to deal sufficient damage to a target under duress.

On the other hand the only point where DPS meters would be useful is tackling Savage and Ultimate. Do you think there is a way for SE to allow DPS meters only in this content? How do they prove that someone only uses it in savage and ultimate? And then there is the risk of conducting harassment on another player simply by using the tool whether intentionally or not intentionally. This is one of the biggest problems with FFLogs.

The good argument is that the developers don't want it in their game.

They know people use them for hardcore content. They don't design the content around that assumption. They don't and will never officially allow them. That's not the type of game they want this to be.

That's not an argument, it's an appeal to authority.
