I also find it fascinating that yes, while the toxic casual playerbase that absolutely refuses to learn anything won't benefit from ACT or parsing in general, anyone who does perform the vile wicked sorcery that is obtaining basic statistics needs to do it in a hushed, speakeasy backalley way and never ever ever admit that they do it, because the toxic casuals would be embarrassed and pissed off if the evil tryhard elitists were allowed to openly obtain said numbers.

Toxic casuals wouldn't benefit from an official parser, but the developers and the TOS being written to shield their precious fragile egos from any challenge whatsoever is what makes parsing "bad".

Actually private would have to be the only option. Simply because people would question you not having it set to public which would lead to toxicity which is what they are trying to avoid.

ACT still exists so an official damage meter wouldnt really solve anything especially since ACT provides so much information than SE would provide if one was implemented.

The only thing hiding the numbers does is prevent a very specific type of "elitist" toxicity from happening. Being proud of not knowing how your job works? Complaining about "elitists"? Those types of toxicity are totally fine.

I'm not sure what kind of toxicity is being "prevented" by hiding numbers. It just encourages the passive-aggression that the GCBTW really loves and pretends isn't toxic at all.

Since the topic will not go anywhere as both sides (myself included) are too bullheaded to budge even an inch... I'll just leave with this one thought.

Riddle me this. What are the reasons for low DPS? If you can answer this then you know what to look for when you want to improve.

I've seen plenty of grey logs to straight up answer you. Not pressing buttons. 80% GCD uptime and drifted CDs are truly a staple when it comes to "bad" players.

Correct. And knowing this all of us can improve regardless of whether we have the tracker or not. And while you got your information from analyzing logs I got mine from "Crap Guide to Final Fantasy XIV".

Got some bad news as to how all guides determined rotations and weaving windows.

And should I care? Those things aren't becoming more or less relevant regardless of if we made Damage Tracker Obligatory or not. Besides isn't it a known fact that Ninja's rotation during ShB was determined by a guy who tested it out on dummy without using ACT or FFlogs? Or will you tell me that my Black Mage is a rocket science that nobody would figure out without ACT?

    Oh yes it is.

You're playing a multiplayer game based around team content. Your group has full right to boot you whenever they like if the majority feel you aren't contributing. They just aren't allowed to be rude to you over it. Your performance is everyone's business. If you don't like that, I'd recommend a single player rpg.
