There's negativity because people are getting sick of the same problems either recurring or being left unaddressed entirely for years.

The forums are also supposed to be a channel for giving feedback to the devs, so there's more of a tendency for people to shout into the wind here then in other places.

Actually maybe if ACT cheaters manage to destroy the trust people have in FFLogs rankings people who use parsers will actually start using them as a method of self improvement and to know the general damage they should be outputting instead of wiping every PF party they touch to greed one more GCD and boost their score on that site.

I don't know if this is a hot take but I can't say im heart broken someone figured out how to boost their numbers on FFlogs and is therefore erroding the value of the website some people in this game rely on to judge their entire self worth, and others worth in the game.

Having experience with using bots and hacks in other games really makes it apparent people don't understand how little the devs/teams of these types of games can do to stop them. There are no actual internal tools available to instantly track the exact moment someone might have clipped through a wall or floor, for example. Similarly, there are no internal tools available to determine exact position hacking (i.e. X/Y/Z placement of a player at any given time). This is purely evidenced by the fact judgment is not issued swifter. It could, potentially, be mostly automated if that were the case... but it's not.

Unless people want SE to always pull the trigger on bans for no actually provable reason (other than just on occasion), they have rules they have to follow. This does include the obvious bots, so every one of them has to go through protocols/rules to determine fault PER character/account. The people who utilize these tools know this. They know they have the time, purely because they know these companies don't want to upset players by freely banning large groups of people all the time for no reason. They also know they don't have those tools mentioned earlier.

I honestly don't know why it's not seen as applicable to hire a small team to actively monitor reports in real time. Like actually investigate/track a player marked in a ticket. I know it happens on occasion, but it doesn't seem to be a regular thing. Maybe if the problem actually gets bad, to the point we actually do see dozens/hundreds of them swamping towns and higher level zones, then that might happen. Until then, not that big of a deal when you consider it is and (almost) always has been business as usual.

The thing bugs me is that the GMs were permitted to action people for visibly having add-ons in their UI, which in practice, is scarcely more obvious then players doing things like moving around while stunned/CC'd or teleporting into walls so they can pop an elixir without interrupted.

Both are technically cheating, but the former was placed under the jurisdiction of the GMs which is why it was actioned almost immediately, whereas the latter offense gets handed off to the STF who have such a slow response time that they won't necessarily even be able to catch an offender in the act.

Don't think that is true in FF14, at least not universally. I had a friend get insta banned on day 1 because of a dirty name (was Thundercock or something like that).

So you are saying, that a registered argentine account got perma banned and account closer over a name? They dont even do that for usa accounts they make you rename, maybe a 24 to 7 day suspension.


There is a diff between bann and suspension. EULA agreements between countries in order to sell games there, for example the biggest one atm is what belgium and other countries and lootboxes?

there are some for you can never perma ban an account.


There are countries where they cant play pass 10pm , welll use too they got rid of that law i think, So internet cafe's were the norm, they pay a monthly sub for game access tied to the equiv of a SSN. They would hack in overwatch and other games, get suspended. and unsuspended in 15 min bc of the way EULA worked.

I don't rly take e-peen accomplishments seriously at all in games, there's so much cheating and carrying or cheese in games.
If someone tells me that they beat Elden Ring for example I have no idea if they meant that they legitimately actually learned all of the boss fights and did them or if they ran in with an op sword and shot a laser beam at them and they died before even reaching the player ( countless of op examples and cheese/ glitching ).

In my experience it's the same with Ultimates in FFXIV, I've lost count how many times I've ran into complete crap players running around with the weapons.
I've honestly felt like there has been a massive increase of people running around with them as of late dunno why rly.
But it's not rly special anymore imo.

It used to be the same in WoW too, you could run past someone in Ironforge and see their weapon and be impressed it was a really cool thing in Vanilla.
Nowadays it's hard to be impressed by anything and you know there is always a relatively high chance they didn't actually get it legit.

Pretty much exactly how I would've expected them to react, and in all likelyhood it was probably spurred on mostly by the cheaters themselves not wanting to be exposed and reporting the account...nevermind that anyone who wants to expose people who've bought clears can just use FFLogs as an easy reference point.

And thus SE will just allow this nonsense to continue instead of actually taking the information to heart and doing something about it.

Yeah this is totally sus NGL.

Could be SE because it was criticizing SE a little for banning much more benign mod users instead of focusing on deep cheating like this. So maybe they had the account closed, otherwise It could be the cheaters and players threatening him. Basically there would be a lot of people with a lot of motiviation to make him dissappear

so idk

All im saying is many parties had many motives to not let the truth surface.MAYBE this goes deeper than we think. MAYBE a young and naive journalist went up against the establishment and found out what happens when you mess with the status quo.
