PLD vs WAR: testing

So with the hotfixes to 1.22a, I decided to see how PLD and WAR play now.

The test (the goal here is to have the jobs as equal as possible in gear setup)

Gear: Full AF
Accessories/belt/etc - N/A as long as its the same for both jobs
Weapon (PLD): Cobalt Winglet and Kite Shield
Weapon (WAR): Demilune Bhuj
Food: None
Outside buffs/healing: None

Test Mob(s): Thanalan (near Ul'dah east exit)

lvl ~58 Laughing Mongrel X:31 Y:31
lvl ~58 Lammergeyer X:30 Y:32

Please post your results and thoughts about soloing this mob with both these jobs -- I think this test is very easy and quick to do when evaluating the new changes.

Is AF the best gear for a test case? I'd expect something better would be either armor with neutral stats like +HP +MP such gear or +acc gear. Or is the aim less about specific differences and more about each classes max possible output?

Its more a play-as-designed test for both classes (hence the AF).. I wanted to see who can tank and still DD enough to outlast a mob 7-8 lvls above them

I would say equivilant armor that both jobs can use, when testing abilities it's usually best to have them on as level a playing field as possible.

Both Jobs were internally tested/balanced by the devs using their AF, I think its proper to use it for this test as well.

i'd imagine the test would have to be a little be more expansive then just fighting a single mongrel, no? even if it is a lvl 58 mob there's a significant difference between actually tanking something and soloing. not to be negative, just saying

There is really only few things to really test. We already know the defense calculator is ass so their gear is pointless. More or less we need to test the increase in parry rate with the new rampage effect and the proc rate and potency of shield blocking since those are the only real changes that could shift tanking priority. The decreased damage on WAR is annoying but hardly matters since it was already insane at hate generation and Invincible is kind of an out layer skill because of cool down.

Paladin 25.39 dps, 12.57 hps, 3255 damage taken
Warrior 68.50 dps, 17.69 hps 4171 damage taken

Overall the mob dies much faster on warrior vs paladin.

that is good to know, but now we have to test the enmity generation with another test ^^

Uhm it takes a lot longer to kill it on Pld and still Pld only took 80% of the damage War took?
