Ah, people who don't read patch notes and expect to not even try to do the bare minimum, then whine and complain when it's well documented that a full rework is done months in advance.I've been playing the game for almost 3 years, and haven't really done pvp except once to unlock it shortly after I started. It lasted about 5 minutes, I spent most of it dead, and I remember my buttons were a bit different.
Lately my FC members were saying how fun it was, that it had gotten some major love.
So I queued up this morning for the first time since then to get a Wondrous Tails sticker. It was a horrible experience.
I had no abilities. None. All slashed out. I was ready for them to be different/changed like they were a couple summers ago. But GONE?
I tried to ask my teammates before the match started. "Unable to use chat."

Well at least the match is short, I thought. I'll run around with my weapon drawn.
I don't pretend to understand or have an opinion on the design decisions that went into the PvP system. But as a long time mostly casual player, I will say that it was NOT a good second first impression.
There's a minimum, and you went below it. Congrats.
Not everyone watches every fucking video and reads every post in the hopes of some minor detail. Most of the stuff they say just says "new shit coming" and makes no mention of having to put skills back on the bars. The game tells you that it is done automatically and it doesnt.
This would make sense. But considering how casual this game design is, it is poorly done. Also always wonder why they can't just reset PvP instead of having all crossed out. They have so few skills wouldn't break the game to fill bar with new ones and remove deleted.
I literally cannot comprehend how anyone can enjoy this steaming pile of mess that is PvP. It's absolutely horrid in every single way. I've gotten no enjoyment or fun or anything. It's made me want to consider killing myself to just get the first match I've done over with. It's absolutely terrible.
Why can't I use the skills I'm already well aware of how to use? Why do I have to use a completely foreign unfamiliar skillset that basically feels like I'm just rolling my face across the keyboard.
First of all, I haven't played a single job yet in PVP that has , as you put it, a "completely foreign unfamiliar skillset". Each one had existing skills and new skills.I literally cannot comprehend how anyone can enjoy this steaming pile of mess that is PvP. It's absolutely horrid in every single way. Secondly, as the skills are so limited in number, it only took a few minutes on a training dummy to get the basics down.
Finally, aren't you same person who just posted in another thread stating that you hate PVP , would get a y match over with as soon as you possibly could as you only are in it for the glam anyway?
The fact that this post exists shows players don't read patch notes to figure out whats changed with the game, or read any type of release data or post that the devs and designers put out for us to have knowledge of what we need to know. They want it spoon feed, but it already is, they just have to simply read. The fact that this post exists shows that there was, in fact, a UX miss. The fact that you and I "get it" and intuitively knew that we needed to replace our expired hotbar skills doesn't mean that others have failed when they didn't have the same experience to prompt that insight.

I cannot agree more with this sentiment.
Before you go into PVP with any job for the first time, it's recommended that you go to the Wolves' Den to review your PVP job actions. I even recommend going there for the first time after each patch, just in case the patch created some jank that you need to fix.
Guess you can also blame you friends without tell you revamp with skill. Since they tell you pvp change but didn't tell revamp skill XD.
Make no mistake. I'm not you alliances. I'm here cause I just do what I felt is right thing to do.
