RPR’s Voidsent

Hi all, I’ve commented about this before somewhere with my HC being the Voidsent we bond with is the 13th Shard’s Azem. Now with 6.1 I feel that’s less likely. However, some dialogue is presented from Y’shtola if you have Reaper leveled when we find the void gate in the newest dungeon. She mentions Voidsent typically take over their hosts and devour their souls and noting that we’ve bonded with one as well - and to make sure we are the exception to the rule.

Given how little we know of the Voidsent we’ve bonded with, and the likelihood we’ll be traveling to the Void soon, do you think we might get some background on our demonic ally? I recognize it may be difficult to show class lore in the main story as many may not have the class leveled or want it in their WoL’s canon.

Personally I’d at least like some kind of interaction with our Voidsent and the 13th Shard or even Zenos’ Voidsent.

Almost definetely not, SE have all but abandoned doing new Job quests going forward (the concept of Role quests started in ShB and continued in EW replaced individual class and Job quest lines), so the identity of RPR's avatar will always just be "it's a Voidsent you pulled across" with nothing else given alas.

The Avatar was apparently attached to the crystal before we got to it, so frankly I'd consider it improbable that it was anything special to us anyway.

Sadly it could’ve been one hell of a role quest line but sadly SE are full of terrible decisions

I'm.. starting to doubt that to be really honest - it would be a little too convinent for his avatar to be Azem's soul shard, where every other RPR has a random voidsent (yes, I know Yoshi has dropped hints about

being 'special' and having a connection to the story, but again, too convinent in my opinion). If anything, I'm starting to lean more to Azem's 13th soul fragment being the

mysterious 'black knight' introduced in 6.1 who is totally not Golbez - it would make perfect sense, especially how Golbez in FFIV was FFIV protagonist Cecil's brother.

Either way, we'll find out eventually.

Nah I have a feeling that

the Black Knight who isn't actually Golbez is probably Azdaja, as then they can reference the shocking sibling reveal from FF4. Plus Golbez IS associated with a shadow dragon and even pulls one out in Dissidia NT.

Actually, it would've been total butt of a role quest. Because you're picturing it as essentially 'Reaper: Part Two', but remember that if it were a role quest it would've also been done by Dragon, Ninja, Monk, or Samurai. Which also means that it would've had to be written with the idea that it makes sense to someone who's only played Monk, and suddenly the writing has to go weirdass sideways because largely the same script has to stand for both 'only ever did Reaper and so knows all about the Avatar stuff', and 'literally has never met the Hardcore Botanist's Club'.

I thought going in to the RPR job questline that our Avatar would end up being something like Venom, where we would have to wrangle them into going along with our plans while we convince them to channel their baser desires into terrorizing chickens and eating grapes. They've kind of done this sort of story with Frey already, but it still feels like a missed opportunity. It would be nice to know a name at the very least. Might be worth asking for them to provide more backstory on it the next Q+A.

I agree I don’t honestly expect much/anything given the nature of the game and player choices, but a little backstory would be nice. It seems like too big of a choice (bonding with a Voidsent) to not have any background info.
