    Nor do they let you progress without killing ifrit/garuda/titan and they aren't part of msq.

    No, no it is mandatory now. Can't progress to HW til you do CT. I did this with a friend on alts.

    Also since apparently some people want to put CT into main scenario roulette, it is actually good to remind some people that it is not msq.

    And even if it was they will never put it in the main scenario roulette.

    I did the ARR MSQ last year and I most certainly had to do Crystal Tower raid series before I could progress to 2.55. However the quest chain had the blue optional quest mark.
