Well, I'm not sure Soukyuu, I'm used to entering MMOs then seeing a lot of people chat (especially the usual trolls), and I haven't seen a person talk yet, and I've been playing for like 3-4 days already. I made sure i picked a really populated server from the list when i started... I randomly partied with some guy and he wasnt uttering a word to me even though I was trying to communicate with him...

That does sound weird. There was some kind of glitch happening to some people making them stop getting party messages, but it was usually fixed by relogging. First time I hear it happening for 3-4 days in a row.

You could go to the Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV\user folder and remove everything in it. This will reset any UI/chat/macro settings you had (as well as saved characters), so you might want to make a backup somewhere first to see if this will fix it. The game will simply recreate the needed files on next boot.
