I think it's time we start to finally discuss the issues that have been a plague to ff14 but ignored. We see the development team show thier dislike of cheating. Bots, Auto rotation add-ons and am of these third party apps are poisoning the game.

It eventually capitulated wow and was too little to late. Now we're at a crossroads with whether ff 14 starts to decline or can maintain it's pace. The developers plead and ask the player base not to use these apps but are largely ignored. The housing issue is ruined from house bots. Any content is ruined with auto rotation and apps that tell you how to dance around mechanics.

Bots ruined the economy and any satisfaction. Want to play a game with 80% bots or one player controlling ten characters like wow and ff 11? Keep going on without enforcing your rules. If you make these rules it is your job to enforce them. Please do so square enix. Embarrassing and bringing down the video of that world first is a first step.

Are you seriously trying to suggest that add ons and third party apps were the downfall of WoW?

Not completely, but considering devs designed raids assuming players were using every addon in existence, it certainly became a massive problem. Have you seen a wow raiders screen? It's like 90% UI and 10% game lmao

While I don't approve of some of the current raid addons, I don't think Ultimate is really the issue here. They do provide an advantage over doing the content as intended, but they don't trivialize it to an extent that bad players can beat it.

Bots are a different thing entirely and where more focus should be, they destroy the economy, wreck PvP where they appear and spoil housing. Yoshida can have his little rants about ACT, vanity mods and QoL ping addons but they haven't really acknowledged or done much to tackle the actual serious cheat bots.

Don't design content with incredibly tight DPS checks and then give players no way to know if they're actually executing correctly if you don't want things like ACT? I don't use it because I don't raid but it seems counterproductive to ban people for ACT when you've just released content where people need to know to perform optimally.

Personally, I'm just curious if the same players who talk about their woes with the simplification of job design are also using add-ons not supported by SE in order to facilitate Ultimate. Even more so if they are healers.

I wouldn't doubt there being overlap, but they're definitely not all in the same group of people.

Standard raiders UI is built around timers for CDs/Buffs/Debuffs, etc and timers for incoming mechanics and percentages, action bar modification a DPS meter and raid frames. The rest is just personal preference on how people want the UI to look. You can always see the fight encounter along with everything you need to see in order to participate in the encounter. It can sometimes take less than a handful of addons to achieve a complex looking UI for raiding and PvP. It is built mainly around the gameplay and not the visuals. If it wasn't centered around improving your performance and only about visuals of the UI, people would fail all over the place to the extent that a problem would emerge.
