If you mean putting it on a sections of your plate to let you specify that to other players that doesn't sound too difficult to put in and a pretty good QoL.
Changing the dialog options doesn't seem to be too insurmountable either. Maybe they'll get to this if they're doing a bunch of QoL updates.

I mean there's an addon that fixes this problem so you all saying it'd take a lot of work are just being corporate simps lol. IMO I don't think its a necessity but its not a really hard to do implementation... I just think a japanese corporation wouldn't care enough.

the addon, only "fixes" it on your screen, and technically, in case you missed the forums the last few days, they are not allowed.

For SE to do it, they would be changing code for the last 10 years of content. so, it is not corporate simpering as you put it, its the bony finger of reality tapping on your forehead. as well as a japanese company likely not caring about it, a large percentage of the player base likely would not either. "sorry, but we are pushing back any new content for x number of months to cater to a very small minority of people who would use it and will have zero benefit to any job, dungeon or playstyle"

if they built a new game with this in it, great, thats awesome. but in FFxiv, there is zero game benefit to this and cannot even be offered as a QoL update.
