Most people seem upset that the Vanilla UI is lacking in functionality, but Yoshi's announcement specifically stated that they're already looking into the most popular UI mods to implement many of those functions into the game.

It's also worth mentioning that you can type #GPOSER on Twitter right now and find a trillion posts using GShade and CMTools/Anamnesis, and they haven't all been mass banned. Go to Limsa on literally any server and you'll probably find 9 bards all probably using the Midi player, and they probably also fine. SE knows most addons are perfectly harmless, and most people are smart enough to not talk about the addons they're actually using.

Also, unless you were there, probably very few people remember just how BAD the Vanilla UI actually was during the PS3 days and just take for granted all the features we have right now. I have no reason to believe they won't continue to improve it and implement stuff only found in mods right now.

Though I agree they could have handled some of the higher profile bans with more grace, I believe some people are blowing this a little too much out of proportion..
I think there is also a valid conversation to be had about some add-ons being allowed, such as the cosmetic ones that have no impact whatsoever on another person's game. People don't just want "increased functionality" though that is certainly nice but also being able to customize your own experience. Changing the way your HUD looks, having chat bubbles pop up in /say chat, etc. Those sorts of add ons are harmless, its silly to ban someone for that just as it is to ban people for using Gshade or the midi music player.
