Is it necessary to advertise "LGBTQ+ friendly"

its typically just to point out that the FC is operated by lgbt+etc folk and that off-game nonsense like discord servers are also LGBT friendly.

i - despite being gay and ace - would go out of my way to avoid FCs that would advertise they were lgbt+ friendly but time and time again i would be hanging out and i'd see people casually drop lgbtpopbic slurs and memes. many times i have asked them to not and every single time i was given empty promise after empty promise.

i'm often doing endgame content so i would find myself always enduring silently because they didn't want to lose the static by upsetting the others... although in the end i always left anyway because of it which causes them to dissolve either way.

ended up making my own FC simply because while the one i was last in insisted it wouldn't be lgbtphobic (asked in my application), it consistently was. even worse was the fact that the FC lead's own husband would laugh and comment on images sent over discord by another person. neither of them really played but she could only apologize for his actions in private. smh.

It isn't about punishing anything, it's a bit like if you were to see a bottle of chocolate milk at the store that said in big letters "Contains milk!", wouldn't you react a bit like "well duh"?

because despite the rules being plainly visible for all to see, there are still a good number of people who will actively harass you or discriminate against you for being lgbtq+, either in game, or in a 3rd party software like Discord. I have seen it happen, i have experienced it myself, both as a witness and the receiver of the slurs and harassment. I mean we have people arguing over why they should be allowed to keep their adventurer plate of their female miqote mimicking the act of giving a BJ for goodness sake. Some people are just dumb about the rules.
