Yoshi-P and Third-Party Ping Correcting Tools

Yoshi P acknowledged that some third-party tools were used to enhance the UI and HUD. This acknowledgement has led to the dev team to create in-game tools to discourage the use of third-party tools. This is a good thing.

In this same spectrum, the recent post on Lodestone has also mentioned that third-party tools used to alter packets, ping, and lag were not allowed. This brings us back to the point where Yoshi-P in a live letter had stated he has never heard of international players experiencing ping issues before. What we need is to be louder about this so we could get some attention to these issues. By the same logic used for the HUD, I really hope the dev team would acknowledge it for ping, packets, and lag. SE could further discourage the use of third-party tools by looking into this issue more deeply. I guess what they need is specific examples that they are able to recreate.

It's particularly funny because they could easily copy the way the ping correcting tools work. To be clear, they don't actually change your ping. What happens is animation locks are communicated to and from the server. Your animation lock doesn't "start" until it gets a response back from the server for you having done the action. The way the ping tools work is that it measures your ping, and then subtracts that duration from the animation lock, thus simulating a zero ping environment (or 5-10 ping depending). So, SE could fix this by either A) Doing the same ping check and adjustment or B) Just having the animation lock start AS the action is communicated to the server, rather then AFTER

I vpn is a pipe. It doesn't actually modify network traffic or game data.

It's entirely on SEs head as they continue to have a contract with NTT and not correct their issues. We've been plenty loud, even during the server move to CA. Just use the tools. They don't even show up on screen, anyway.

Litterally altering the ping on server to eg. negative ping affecs the GCD hence you would exploit the heck out of the game with quicker cooldowns than anyone else.

The programs do not change your ping and do not interact with the server in any form, nor do they affect ability cooldowns or how fast the GCD goes.

The same mechanism that allows XIVAlex or NoClippy to work can also be used to just outright cheat. You'd ultimately have to ban both if you were being fair.

I tried contacting support during 6.1 till ultimate released over packet loss that was strangely heavy in unusual hours. It was experiencing packet loss in dead hours in JP. It's seemingly fine for now-ish.

It wasn't helpful as all I learned was my ISP believes they can not do anything because the packet loss they've found had been in JP where they have no control of and SE claiming the same despite mentioning how it was seemingly coming from an ISP in JP from my end and at most, SE sent a note to another technical group? They didn't really guide me on what to ask my ISP.

Whatever it is, while it's discouraged supposedly, they have no way of detecting it in the first place because nothing unusual should pop up as if it's just normal gameplay unless it's scripted which is no longer just packets and full on a rotation script. You know, TAS bot like. Which has happened.
