Some people get so upset over the pettiest of things sometimes. A lot of people fail to realize that the game is not without flaws. Equally, there are many people that get unnecessarily toxic and fail to realize that criticisms are not homogenous and people have a different outlook of what a good game is or how to improve it, and thus cannot handle their criticisms being open to scrutiny despite criticizing people for being unable to take critique of something they love.

There's a great touch of irony in it all really, and it's as sad as it is comedic.

Honestly, I think we all just need to take a step back and look at ourselves beyond the clown makeup.

This community has been getting so toxic lately. We can argue, complain and moan about the stuff thats been happening lately but frankly I think we all just need to take a break from FFXIV and ourselves and go do other things.

if people cant handle it then maybe they should take a break from it. the only other option is to not be fragile and let it affect them negatively.

Gah. Whenever I see a post like this I wonder how some of you became so jaded. I've played this game for a long time and the number of negative experiences I've had here is absolutely and completely dwarfed by the positive ones. If all someone is seeing is ugliness wherever they look, perhaps consider ditching that scene entirely and try spending time with different people instead. And if you still continue to run into problems no matter where you turn, then consider that the issue may be closer to home.

Though I will agree that toxicity and the mentally unhealthy tryhard muh optimal comb mentality has increased since the WoW migration back in Shb where things were a lot friendlier and casual.

Now you keep saying the typical tryhard muh class tierlist videos, drama video about addons or """"reeeee if SE doesnt pander to us l33t raiders the game will die because it is too easy""" and reaction videos to said videos, might not be a good sign for the future because once that metaslave/tryhard mentality infects the majority of community you get the disaster that is the WoW community, hopefully that doesnt happen but we will see.

Happy to see SE unlike most western devs doesnt treat raiders as special and keeps taking their own ToS somewhat seriously.

In case you weren't aware, the parse plugin has over 17 million downloads. Definitely not all unique downloads, but definitely seems like a lot of people would be upset.

Take solace in the fact that forum culture and game culture are nearly completely different circles. People here are honestly some of the worst I've seen in awhile, but they're all just jerks who type here because they can. Moderation seems like a no-go here, and I imagine they don't look often for input either since everyone's pretty nasty. My game experiences are still largely positive, even if there's a few more assholes. That's to be expected with a player spike. My advice is to not come here, or at bare minimum don't come here often and only post and don't reply.

I was just putting out a dumb hot take with that statement, my bad. Of course my experience with the in-game community so far has been positive. While some stuff from forums do show up in certain party chat convos for me like how I mentioned the whole add-on fiasco, I still feel like people are just being super disingenuous, mal-informed or just plain being stupid. Im no special sunshine either as Im a big memelord but its personally aggravating to come to these forums sometimes to try to find constructive discussions about the game because I love talking about it but currently like 90% of the people are busy malding over each other and it just dilutes any meaningful conversation.

Like SE has previously stated addons are not allowed, but you can get away with it if there's no evidence aka you dont publicize the data, the moment you start uploading to public sites or show them on stream its the moment you should be reported and get banned.

Though I still hope SE starts checking the client for certain addons because addons that give timers and announce mechanics during any encounter should be banned with extreme prejudice so this game doesnt turn as bad as wow

I'd wager that when the plugin updates it counts as a download or something like that. But regardless, we're still looking at "Millions" which is a far cry from a minority.
