Suggestion: Random-proc mini-game to add optional challenge to crafting

Have you done any Expert Crafting?
You can't macro them they are far too RNG dependent and likely exactly what you describe.
The old level 80 ones for Ishgard or for the Resplendent tools are a lot easier now with level 90 gear stats, but the concept is there and will likely return when they incorporate crafting events such as some other place to restore.

Also a long time ago there were multiple levels of HQ. They've done away with that and done away with HQ base materials overall.
Calling it now, all gear will be HQ gear and NQ will cease to exist by the end of the next expansion lol

Expert crafting was kind of the idea. The issue with expert crafting is that it's a sub-system that is only used on a few crafts, that has to be maintained to stay relevant and challenging. My idea was essentially to have an optional button that lets you turn all crafts into a sort of expert craft.

You can macro expert crafts easily. It just depends on using potions and food in some cases.

Now we can because we have level 90 gear for the recipes that were designed for level 80 gear. It could not reliably be done when all we had was level 80 gear.

We still don't know if they're going to reintroduce Expert for level 90.
