Actually I do want anti cheat. I have played many games that have it. Yes I know it is not a panacea and creates it's own problems but in my view it is far better than what we have.Square already possesses all of the means to detect botting server side yet for some reason choses not to implement it.
Auto out of bounds detection? Not present.
Wrong warp detection? Nope!
Extended session activity detection? Nada.
You do not want anti-cheat trust a Mia. This is actually case of you think you do but you do not. They are notorious for adding performance issues whilst easily being circumvented and for false positives. Took OBS some time to fix game capture mode anticheat bypass and it still does not always work.

Is it odd that ffxiv has enough time to monitor twitch streams and twitter- but cant be bothered to make QoL changes that make the game UI better?? Or any resources to do anything in xiv (including putting a damn rdm relic hat on a bunny??). Seriously, why does this dev team seem like we're in poverty with all the funds this game makes (even while funding 800% of other games)

the dev team does not say where the money SE makes goes. seriously, no offense but I have no clue why you would believe something so... wrong. The SE exec's say where the money goes, NOT THE DEV TEAM.Is it odd that ffxiv has enough time to monitor twitch streams and twitter- but cant be bothered to make QoL changes that make the game UI better?? nor does the dev team worry about streams. That would be whomever the report ended up with. the people who would have given the suspension.. ARE NOT CODING THE GAME.
should do some thinking before you post, seriously.
I see no PR nightmare here. I just see a lot of people that apparently were ignoring the ToS (that has always been in place) either throwing a tantrum because they see that its being enforced more often now or making excuses hoping that it will exempt them from action should they get caught. As we know the announcement was made then very shortly after streamers were the first targets of report brigading but it is now spreading to exploiting the system.
You are behind the curve SE and need to get control of the narrative because this entire ban hammer approach is absolutely horrible PR for the MMO currently.
1. Yoshi P needs to issue a statement reversing the current bans with a go forward policy regarding the use of add ons that conflict with SE policy. Sorry but you gave zero notice then immediately started issuing bans.
2. Hiding behind "well we told you guys before" after Yoshi P gave a 30 minute answer effectively green lighting certain add ons is pretty ridiculous.
3. Report brigading needs to be treated as a bannable offense if it is abused which is definitely is currently being used for right now.
