Yeah its a problem (mass reporting) but there isn't a good solution to it unless they want to change the TOS to be very specific, and as soon as they do people will find other loopholes to exploit.
That isn't how mass reporting works. Regardless of intent, you're participating in mob mentality and essentially harassing someone else. And lets be realistic here. Nobody is "hearing from a friend" that some random streamer they don't even watch is "cheating" and they're suddenly compelled to report only them.

I think what happened was the dudes got into the crossfire after the announcement and people went on the hunt. Like honestly, a lot of players should be banned because of this then lmao.

Just let this cool down and don't stream with mods or whatever right now. Just lay low.

Really? You don't think an element of mass reporting is the following?

Someone hates streamer X. This person has lots of friends. He joins a community of people who also hate streamer X and they agree to mass report him.

Now this person is trying to garner support and excerbate the issue, he contacts his friends and tells them to report this streamer because of all of these "noble" sounding reasons. This persons friends like him, and have no problem believing him and helping to pile on because they perceive they are creating justice.

Person has now managed to amplify the reporting effect and create a bigger impact. Mission accomplished. These friends are now innocent for the most part, they believed their friend and wanted to help him, and would now be collateral damage.

Futher more, if the reports of the activity are indeed against TOS, the company will enforce its rules. Why would they not enforce their own policies? Regardless of the motive of the people doing the reporting?

If people report a crime not because they want to see justice but because they want to screw the perpetrator over the justice system still needs to act. Regardless of the reporters intentions.

If you join in on a report brigade just because a friend told you so then you need to start thinking for yourself and realize that the report system is not made for flooding it with ill intentioned requests. You are not innocent at that point anymore. Obviously I wouldnt go so far as to ban everyone who joined in on them the first few times but the priority of the reports they make should take a hit. People like that clearly havent understood when reports should be made.

The justice system doesnt always need to act, it needs to act when it's necessary. Otherwise we are just punishing people for the sake of having someone to punish. Classic scapegoat mentality does not cultivate good communities.

Report barrages are actually just a community vote on who to get out. If no one is ever held responsibly for them then it becomes completely riskfree to use it maliciously. Additionally it will drown out people having actual grievances with another player because if you are just by yourself and only have a few friends in the game, you dont have the power required to get justice for yourself. Worse even if the person you have a grievance with has a lot of friends and gets them all to mass report you. This has happened in this game already btw.

You are talking about what "needs" to happen. I'm talking about what happens and what a company can do about it, and from my point of view a company is not going to invest in an army of private investigators or IMO even hire one single person to look into who is reporting others for TOS violations. They are just going to ban them because they were violating TOS. It's a lot cheaper and easier.

I dont like it. But this is the truth. And hence why it doesn't have a good solution.

The biggest grievance here is using the word ban when the word suspension should be utilized.
People aren't, unfortunately, getting banned. Getting a suspension for 3 to 10 days is nothing.

People knew add-ons were against the tos. So there is nothing to fix or apologise for.

Again, people just love to blow this out of proportion and its getting really annoying. I'll admit some of the third-party memes have been funny but its starting to get to the point where people are taking them seriously and its just cringe.

People were warned how many years? lol
And 10 days is hardly more than a slap on the wrist, c'mon.
