How to fix the latest PR nightmare!

As we know the announcement was made then very shortly after streamers were the first targets of report brigading but it is now spreading to exploiting the system.

You are behind the curve SE and need to get control of the narrative because this entire ban hammer approach is absolutely horrible PR for the MMO currently.

1. Yoshi P needs to issue a statement reversing the current bans with a go forward policy regarding the use of add ons that conflict with SE policy. Sorry but you gave zero notice then immediately started issuing bans.

2. Hiding behind "well we told you guys before" after Yoshi P gave a 30 minute answer effectively green lighting certain add ons is pretty ridiculous.

3. Report brigading needs to be treated as a bannable offense if it is abused which is definitely is currently being used for right now.

Using the banhammer is fine. Waiting until a situation is beyond anyone's control to start using it somewhat effectively is not. lol

Auto banning people for 10 days is beyond ridiculous. Just apply the policy of issuing warnings first, 1-3 days ban after then resort to a 10 day ban. Pretending like some guy using a UI mod that fixes a UI from 2014 is worse than people spamming trade chat with sexual innuendos is just crazy.

People conveniently forget Yoshi going on record, more than once, saying that it is against the ToS, and while they don't actively pursue modders, if it is promoted they will(yes, paraphrasing, but that is the gist of what was said each time). Those are warnings, the bans are for people who failed to heed said warnings. They played with fire, and got burnt.

While they definitely should increase their task force that goes after bots/RMT stuff....people were warned about mods.

Yeah he then went onto compare ACT to using a calculator so our bad if the raiders got a little confused by that one. Square Enix devs are not stupid and are well aware FFLogs exist and has existed for years. They cannot keep dancing around this grey area stuff for much longer without killing their raid scene completely.

We do not know whether it was his first ban or not. Maybe this player had already many notices on this account.

The changes for individual streamers will be pretty minor and pretty much no one else is impacted, that said this is the best oppurtinity to aggitate against the hyper toxic forums that started these brigades. They are a blight for every game and for every community they touch. Your third point is absolutely correct and it's the actual thing we should be focusing on right now.

The problem is that you have to judge intent on Report Brigading, and if they are reporting for something that is in their TOS and its truth, you are banning people for the truth.

In these mobs lets say that 90% have bad intentions, but maybe 10% hear about it from their friends and genuinely think that its cheating, and don't want that in their game... So are you going to ban them for reporting the truth?

Yeah its a problem (mass reporting) but there isn't a good solution to it unless they want to change the TOS to be very specific, and as soon as they do people will find other loopholes to exploit.

You raise very valid points but they are still adressable. To go report streamers you obviously have to know about them first. People who have never interacted with that streamer in game would have needed to find out about them in some other way. That is already a step required to go out of your way to find someone. SE has the records on who reported who. If you show up on all of those reports despite never having interacted with those people then it stands to reason that you are infact joining in for the report brigade.
