As society puts up more and more safety barriers, safe zones, removing possibly rough words/figures and alike, peoples skin gets ever so thinner.

Now I'm not some toxic troll, regardless of what people may think by my response history, but I have always shit-talked in competitive areas like PvP and have had it done to me time and time again. While I can see how someone could be sensitive to it, there are other avenues that SE can take other than bans. Such as, muting individuals, making them unable to emote, ect. for a 24 to 48 hour in-game time period.

Or when someone get's killed, have a pvp themed graphic pop up while a countdown to respawn or whatever.

I just don't believe people spamming, "GG", or emotes should be banned from the game, it's not because I want to preserve the toxicity, it's that I am concerned at how little it takes to get people offended, and thus get someone banned because they got caught up in the moment.

I found if you need some 3rd party app to play a game then you need help in life. Just coz you might seem more superior in a game using 3rd party app you are actually more inferior IRL.

That’s precisely why it can be a hit n’ miss varying how people overreact & thus would resolt into reporting all due to a certainty sensitivity trigger that otherwise at times isn’t meant to provocative; hence leading to possibilities abuse of the report system.

In truth, it’s great we have these sect of norms/ rules to abide by, while its concerning whenever anyone uses that for their leverage to report despite the context not being offensive or inciting the “flame”,

This happened to someone I know qeued up PvP with me & only mentioned “GG” once at the end of the match. The response given by another team member was not civil & felt angered by being on the losing side.

A day later friend receives “warning report” despite only mentioning “GG” once as casually doing so for roulette dungeons.

I don’t have the proof for screenshot since it happened two weeks ago & just trying to process what just occurred which I suspect was an abuse report which is beginning to be more frequent based on the accounts of other’s from dungeons, to pvp & otherwise.

A ban is, essentially, muting an individual player. The programming effort necessary to mute an individual, while allowing them to play the game, might possibly be a bit more of a challenge than the poster thinks.

Harassment is harassment, whether in the heat of the moment or otherwise. Just because someone gets away with it in other games does not mean the devs of this one need to allow such behavior.

A player can always go play a First Person Shooter or other PVP-oriented game where the behavior is tolerated in order to get their daily 'fix' for that sort of thing.

What SE expects you to say when giving advice: Please could you put your tankstance on?

How the "free screech" crowd wants to give advice: Fking noob tank kys

Glad SE doesn't go down with their standards to the level of the toxic western meme culture. If you can't treat other human beings with respect then go and spend the rest of your days on 4chan or WoW.

In contrary, I'd posit that the more prominent enforcement is part of the reasons why this community gets a good reputation. Now, it's only one of many. But it does encourage people to keep a decent filter going while in game.

I've made this analogy before. But if someone misbehaves in a bar, even if it's a temporary 'lost in the moment' slip, they can get kicked from the bar, or at the very least warned. I don't see a distinction between the Bouncer at the bar and a GM. You misbehave enough to render the judgement call of a GM, that's on you. Whether it's an expensive bar or a back alley Irish pub, you learn the rules and you behave accordingly.

The thinness of your or someone else's skin's got nothing to do with the rules the bouncer enforces. The person upset with you might alert the bouncer but it's the bouncer that makes the call.

Making draconian terms of service has done nothing burn turn others from active aggressive to passive aggressive.

Seriously though, have never been part of online community that has so mastered the art of telling someone to sod off without actually telling them to.

Watching mentor making snarky passive aggressive comment after passive aggressive comment towards my friend when she dared suggest Dismal Darkhold/Qarn are not fun dungeons was.. something. "Sounds like you are blaming the mechanics because you cannot do them correctly." is peek small shaft energy. She just thought placing the stone heads or being forced to stand around on the magitek circles was silly..

Heck! Half of replies to my posts are these biiiiiiiig long wordy tirades with enough of diverse vocabulary to make a literary major blush. Would prefer to be told to sod off. At the least I would know how the person feels about me without the fifteen pages of derping around. Might even be able to come to the understanding sooner.

TL;DR - The people who would say mean things have not stopped doing it, they have only found a TOS friendly way to do it instead.

They have barely been enforced so no, not too rigid.
