Is using gaming software really not allowed anymore?

If we want to be really technical- we had to use a 3rd party software tool to sign up on mogstation. So whether it be chrome, firefox, (god forbid IE), or PS internet web browser, etc, we couldve been banned for having used that instead of making it simple enough to do from the ffxiv window on the platform of choice. There's no "anymore" about it. It's never been allowed. Yoshi-P has been pretty consistent with this. There are tools that they are willing to overlook because policing them is more trouble than it's worth, but they're not going to flat out say what those tools are because they don't want to be snared into a back and forth on why they're permitting/not permitting your favorite/least favorite tool. Instead they took the easier route of just banning everything across the board. I saw an interview last year where he basically said that while they would rather spend their time on improving the game, they can step up enforcement at any time, so you're using addons at your own risk. the tos literally hasn't changed its been like this for years unless there was an update to the tos im not aware of SE is to clarifying that tos violations are a thing and in the interest of fairness across the board they ask you to not use them all this fear mongering is doing no good for anyone all your doing is getting stressed out over it and its literaly just the same stuff we have had to deal with for years within the game honestly im just happy yoshida and his team are looking in to ways to implement some of the features these addons provide as QOL improvements at a later date

Yes actually, everything is a third party and you're all going to be banned. You're all victims even though no one is checking for any of you. So sorry you're all going through this which you arent because nothing is happening to anyone who isnt streaming.

The crafting window in 2.0 use to work a little different. With the macro you could craft unlimited with one macro. Just like a bot would. Some people "claim" that they got punished for that. The window no longer works that way.



People A) need to relax and B) think a little. How many bans have actually been reported? I don't really watch streamers, but I thought they knew not to have stuff all over there screen. At least the few I have seen weren't showing anything. No one knows what type of weird thing you have on your PC. I do find the player card bans a little strange considering those were made completely in game without mods.

After reading this Final Fantasy XIV Regarding Third-party Tools news post about Third-party Tools, if i did read correctly the "Defining Third Party Tools" part of the post.

Does it really mean that i can't use gaming software like Logitech G Hub to bind CTRL + [number] key press for my Logitech G600 MMO mouse G buttons and Corsair iCUE to bind Alt + [number] key press for my Corsair K95 keyboard G keys to able to press CTRL + [number] and Alt + [number] more easily without needing to look the keyboard to press right CTRL + [number] or Alt + [number] key combination all the time?

If it really means that, then i'm i really in trouble now for using them for while?

How would SE be aware you are using it outside of this post?

Macro tools that comes with gaming keyboards/mouse that gives the ability to activate multiple buttons in sequence/repeatedly does tend to count as botting in most online games.

This is the reason no company goes out and say openly "yes, we allow all gaming software". There are jus things (from ps1 era) that are concidering cheating, as the good old "turbo" button on some gamepads for old consoles. But overall having gaming mouse and plugins for it is not effecting the game in any way and as far as it is not connected with the game, it is not Third Party Tool.

You’re reaching deep OP.

99.99% Nobody cares what you are using, and nobody will ever know what you are doing unless you decide to broadcast it to everyone. Even then most people wouldn’t really care.

It is only a problem if it is so blatant that people are reporting you over doing something you shouldn’t with proof you are using something.

SE is not actively hunting down anyone.

When you keep asking “well what about this? Or this? Or this?”, refer to the above and double check:

Are you doing something you shouldn’t be able to do?
AND can people see you do it (Eg teleporting through walls)?
OR are you telling or showing people that you are doing it?

If you answered no to any of that, you are fine.
