    Quick Summoner Question

    Hello,
So the new summoner. It has two primary single target and two primary AoE buttons. One set for normal use, and one set for the three summons.

I’m just wondering… given that Ruin/Outburst change into the special versions for Bahamut and Phoenix… what is the reasoning for separating out the Gemshine and Precious Brilliance for the three elemental summons.

Is there ever a time where you would have one of the three active but opt to use standard Ruin/Outburst instead?

It seems a weird design choice to me to have two different buttons that do the exact same thing but require separate hotbar slots.

It's to give you the tiniest bit of flexibility in how you use your spells for mobility. You might want to delay Ifrit's Gemshine/Brilliance if you can't afford to stand still for an extra 1.3s per cast right this moment, or you might want to hold Titan or Garuda's Gemshine/Brilliance because you'll need unrestricted movement in a few seconds. In each minute you have time for 1 demi summon, 6 boosted Ruin IIIs, all your Primal summons and all their spells, one Ruin IV, and one unbuffed Ruin III. That one unbuffed Ruin III can be used to shift your mobility by one GCD so that you don't run out of mobility in the last second of a long move.

Honestly, to me it looks like a matter of reverse button bloat, they had too few buttons for SMN. However, I do believe Precious Brilliance changes alongside the elemental summons.

Being able to feely cast Ruin 3 if you wish to hold or push the tri colored Ruins. Example being that Emerald Ruin 3 is actually a loss in dps against casting Ruin 3 when doing lvl 70 content. Able to make the choice to hold Topaz Emerald 3 for dps neutral movement and entirely skipping or holding Emerald Ruin 3 for emergency movement is nice to have.

At 90 content you will always have to fill with a Ruin 3 and you may need to use it in between your legos.
