Zenos and Fordola don't just have a man made echo they also have a man made blessing of light. After all we learn those two things are separate. And that it's the blessing of light that allows us to fight primals. Why else would sending Fordola fight primals work? Or Zenos fusing himself with Shinriyu? Otherwise the only thing that would have saved him from fusing with a primal is being the grandson of an unsundered. How did this realization not pop up during 6.0 talks? I only came to it after playing back somethings that was stated about what must sort of happen in DRU in my head. Where Thoridan is only able to keep his form after being spared is due to having absorbed so much aether from other sources. And how after we defeat him in the MSQ he just dies and turns into aethrical dust particles is due to not having the blessing of light.

We've always known the two things were separate.

Endwalker just randomly decided to retcon the immunity to tempering into being attached to the blessing rather then the Echo for no apparent reason, without so much as a handwave to suggest something like "Hey, maybe we were wrong about what makes people immune to tempering". It made that dialogue choice in Elpis extremely confusing when it showed up.

That said, it is possible the Resonant treatment inadvertently gave its subjects an artificial version of the blessing assuming it alters the soul on some fundamental and discernable level.

I'm still clinging to some hope that the Resonant will resurface if we end up having to deal with the Garlean legions holed up in Ilsabard. I would really like more light to be shed on the true nature of the Echo after it was hyped up for a time then just kind of fell back to the wayside as a convenient plot device.

Honestly? The reasoning is rather simple and easy to understand if you ask me. It's yet another beneficial plot point needlessly attributed to Hydaelyn in Endwalker to further convince us of her righteousness. Just like how in 6.1

the 12 in Aglaia are very likely going to be revealed as further creations of Hydaelyn.

It's actually kinda funny how desperately they're trying to paint over her ever so slightly tarnished reputation.

Is it really a retcon if you learn more about the subject? No one even those few who would know differently told us that we were wrong until Venat meets us. So of course we assume it's just another thing the echo does along with all the other things it does. Many even assumed that not every echo user had the blessing of light since I think only Minfillia and Krile mention having one. It makes that line Fandaniel says that seemed to be a throw away make sense now. Even though I doubt they planned that to be the answer to his musings. Wish we'd use the Blessing more as a shield unless that too is somehow tied to the echo or being a shard of an ancient.

It is definitely a retcon because prior to Endwalker there is absolutely no dialogue that suggests the blessing is the actual source of protection against primals; just that it gives an advantage against them...somehow, with the Echo consistently being cited as what protects us.

I didn't realize until I looked into it that even before the Elpis bit, Nidhana states that the tests for the warding scale were meant to test our blessing, not the Echo because my mind was already so hard-conditioned to thinking of the latter in any subject pertaining to tempering that I glossed over it.

Iirc, Arenvald and Fordola are sent to deal with situations of a Primal's influence specifically because they have the echo.

In light of the new information we are given in 6.0, it is entirely possible to surmise that everyone with Hydaelyn's blessing also has the echo, but not everyone with the echo has Hydaelyn's blessing. There really is no point anymore with deliberating which one actually wards off a primal's influence. The blessing is nothing more than plot armor, that really stopped being a thing the moment the WoL got their first arse kicking by Zenos in Rhalgr's Reach.

Y'all should replay ARR... the way the Blessing of Light comes up in the battles against Ultima Weapon and Lahabrea now is pretty insane compared to what it had been originally.

She actively uses it to channel her Light through us and stop Primal super attacks/break Titan Gaols.

She also uses it to spark LB3 gauge fill against the Ultima cast.

Against Lahabrea she revives us from unconsciousness and essentially gives us Super Saiyan Blue aura complete with 60% HP increase, movement speed increase, and ATP increase. It's a bit more than a "traveler's ward" if you ask me...

Iirc in Japanese, The Echo is referred to as, "Transcendent Power." A tad less mysterious.

Now, I see it pretty much as being, Blessing of Light = Hydaelyn Superpower access.

Echo = Transcendent Soul Potential and ability to hear Hydaelyn. Note that the Echo itself has actually been shown to be able to do things that the BoL has not, such as see the future.

The BoL is only given to Echo individuals, because they have the greatest potential and nearly incorruptible aether already. Pretty sure the BoL is just confused with the Echo by the cast, and they're never not gonna write it that way.

Resonance copies the Echo, and the procedure could copy the BoL too because it's just copying the aetheric waveform of the master subject. You'd likely need even more people to fuel such a thing, though (and somehow trap the active state of it given to you by Hydaelyn).

Anyroad, The Echo has to be what's responsible for resisting Primals, due to the whole first Heavensward arc where the BoL is sealed by Midgardsormr, but also due to Bozja wherein Mikoto's Echo is Resonance copied onto Misjia.

I may be miss-rembering but did our first encounter with Ifirt tell us it was the blessing that gave us Immunity? The Echo allowed us understanding of his speech and fortified our resistance but he clearly pointed out the "touch" of another upon our person being the primary reason we resisted his tempering?
