There were warnings, sure, but very little action. Two wrongs never make a right, but in my opinion, SE is more at fault here than the player base. Don't make warnings if you don't have the balls to back them up, I say. They let this situation get out of hand.

S-E were at fault for not doing something at first, for being lenient, but they can't be at fault since they are doing what they are supposed to do: applying their ToS against those players who are breaking them. They have decided that enough is enough. No one would be this mad if measures were taken against bots, no matter how late. People who use 3rd party tools were given a kind of "free pass" for a while and now they don't have it they are losing their mind. Well, you were never supposed to have it and you know it. Enough with the mental gymnastics. YOU WERE NEVER ALLOWED. End of discussion.

but years of warnings in live letters and posting by Yoshi saying "dont use 3rd party addons" isnt warning enough? apparently a lot of people DID ignore those. The ToS saying "dont use 3rd party software" isnt enough of a warning?

I understand you are in the camp of "well they said not to do it for years, but this is the first time they caught me so it should just be a GM visit and I am scott free" but I think a suspension is a firmer version of "dont do this" since verbal warnings, written warning have not been enough. a vacation does tend to ensure compliance. which is why I think they need to start banning gil buyers, do that enough times and the sellers will not be selling that much, and the number of bots decrease. banning brings the tenuous nature of your connection to your game account to the forefront.. a chat with a GM does not.

That was not the communication, that was the community's misinterpretation of it. If you don't harass people or bring it up no one can know. If you don't harass people or bring it up no one can report you. It doesn't mean it's safe to use as long as you don't harass people.

No, I'm pretty sure it was more along the lines of "don't do it! But we can't scan your pc to see if you are using it. But it is 100% prohibited to use them"

seems pretty "THIS IS AGAINST THE RULES DONT DO IT" to me. that isnt soft, it isnt ambiguous.. thats him saying... "just dont do it, period..."

Because we have been warned a bazillion times before. So yeah, we have actually been warned.
Now something has happened and everyone loses their mind. What did they expect? If only, I thought it would be a permaban. Honestly, I'm happy it isn't and I consider the 10-day ban to be the actual warning because, apparently, ToS and Yoshi-P interviews are not enough for people for some weird reason.

That it isn't permanent terminations of service accounts handed out is a warning.

SE being kinda lenient on people using plugins and keeping it to themselves doesn't mean the stance has suddenly changed on what consequences you're risking for bringing it more publicly.

People getting banned because of mass reports abuse and im sure they are lying in their reports. Those people should get 10 day ban too.
