If I pick up my phone and call the entire raid in a conference call on speaker phone how is that any different than a Discord lobby?
Other than the improved sound quality?
Is my Android Phone a Third Party Program?
How is it not? It’s giving you an unfair advantage over some players in-game. SE would have provided you a phone if they wanted you to use one mid-raid. I’d recommend against mentioning it - otherwise you may get reported.

Yes it is, it is giving an unfair advantage to people without that type of cell phone capability. The internet as a whole is third party program. The websites that have recorded locations, information about which shop sells what, websites that give you market board information, fishing locations, gathering locations, how to get a minion, how to get a title. All of it is a third party program. Which is why not being able to see the numbers in your battle tab compressed into a legible form without the chat scrolling up every time you twitch click your mouse should also legitimately not be third party.
It should actually be readable in game, and it sure is. Unfortunately I am the only idiot willing to copy and paste each section of chat into note pad or wordpad on my computer or google docs(which is also third party tool) in order to see what the heck killed me in a fight. Shiva Extreme well I died to the ice spike thing time to look through the log....what would this even be called I say to myself, finally find the part were I was defeated. I took more than my health in damage. Cool is it shared, did my mits do nothing, if only the game would allow for me to find this information without scrolling, scrolling, scrolling, maybe going back into the fight and attempting to see the very small fly text on the screen in hopes of seeing the very small(insert spell name) 15% blocked.
Wanting reasonable things is unreasonable even though most of the time the capability is already in the game. I think people with 20 20 vision or people with glasses also have are using their third party glasses to play the game too. The mental gymnastics is boundless, and I would even call scrolling through your battle tab also an unfair advantage because you were willing to do the work no one else will. Just like the people who were upset about the unfair advantage people who push their buttons in the game have over someone who is licking windows. They want to change the jobs already, so by that absurd logic the game company is already using as an excuse to take away abilities they could use on people who wear glasses.
I think I have figured it out. This is the mind set we all need to be in when understanding the circle brained shaders in a game are clearly cheating. Anything is cheating. Everything is cheating. Even playing the game normally is cheating. You are all cheating because you push all of your buttons.
(sleep deprived rambling has ended. I am sorry everyone)
So yes a phone is 'cheating'. Some one may even be deaf or like to play with their volume off like I do most of the time to avoid sensory overload, though there are really no other options. But it really isn't cheating because who gives a damn if someone wants their fairy to look like a fat cat, or their feet to not look like barbie, or their colors to look nicer in the game ( there was someone who mentioned settings in NVidia control panel I think. people could make the argument that using features on your graphics card could indeed be considered cheating because it 'modifies the game' not really but people spin it that way. aka just makes things look better by probably just changing one of the settings. So like enabling v sync. People were malding over pc users wishing to use linux over windows and wished for compatibility.
I have a color setting through my graphics card so my monitor displays color more accurately utilizing the graphics card so the pictures are clearer. These crazy people would start using that if the honestly could even having an older video card and not able to put settings on high could be seen as a disadvantage or cheating because the graphics are nicer..
TL;DR: Tin foil hat conspiracy! Some people be cray cray. I am not serious in my post but if we go on technicality legit everything could be spun as third party. Everything and anything could be a disadvantage to a player or give an advantage in the broadest of terms. In other words everyone is fine. Carry on as normal.

Thread should have been "Please stop using Discord".
OP is obviously sarcastic up to 11, but I'm going to agree in one way: The game has indeed become far too reliant on Discord, to the point that it has several negative effects on the player culture.
In most other MMOs, you can either go without Discord altogether (unless a particular run requires you to join a server for vc) or limit yourself to your guild's and friends' circles and eschew interaction with the mainstream game community.
In XIV this materially limits your ability to play in several ways. You'll barely be able to hunt, unless you become a dedicated S spawner, because all the useful relays go out through Discords now. You can't do Baldesion Arsenal (So much as touch a portal without the official imprimatur of your datacenter's BA org? What's that quote again about there being a special corner of hell "for child molesters and people that talk in the theater?" Pretty sure BA portalnappers are seen as belonging there, too lol). You can hardly even git gud to a level that's accepted by the playerbase without going through roundabout and often delayed information sources.
On top of that, even though there's the whole canard about "well you don't have to interact with the community, you can just use it as an info source" this seems to be a lot less effective than it sounds: judging by the level of activity in small friendly Discords, I'm about certain that most of the social interaction in XIV now takes place in those huge, city-sized mainstream community servers, to the point that their moderators also serve as de facto overlords of the player community at large. As a result, people that don't fit in with the mainstream culture experience a FAR more difficult time when they venture out of the bubble of stuff that can be done solo or in zero-interaction DF groups. The game starts to feel entirely too monocultured compared to even much smaller MMOs.
Linkshells and even FCs don't really alleviate this much either, they tending to be cricket chambers, and the housing and other FC resource systems strongly favoring the spallation of all but the smallest FCs.
And the problem only gets worse as SE adds in more cross-world features (cross-datacenter coming up) as the tendency is for communities to wholeheartedly embrace the merger, leaving even fewer, more influential Discords dictating everything ...

Third party hardware is still a tool by all definitions. By their restated tos, "any tool that gives an advantage." Yes its pointlessly vague.
