Can we please go back to ARR or Heavensward crafting? ShadowBringers and up is BAD..

Crafting in 2022 to sum it up, is “boring.” You just copy a macro you get from the Balance discord and as long as your stats and melds are decent, you spam the macro over and over. This makes crafting so boring and too easy. And don’t even get me started on how cheap things are on the Marketboard.

Competition is good, but there needs to be incentive. If there’s no incentive because the marketboard is full off bots and people spamming a macro, then what’s the point? Gear pieces cost 90,000 Gil or less. I’m ARR or Heavensward, gear pieces easily costed at least 300,000 Gil minimum.

Expert crafting mechanics should be added into regular crafting. It’ll raise the price of gear and it’ll make Gil easier to earn for everyone who tries.

Not only is it "boring", it completely aids people who bot craft 24/7 to flood the market. In the time it takes you to even macro craft lets say a stack of items in the time you have to play in a day (factoring in getting said items if you get them on your own, as well as turn them into sub mats needed etc) you'll then go to try to sell what you've made and see that somebody somehow has 40 stacks of 99 on the board for like 1k gil. I agree. Anything book related should be like Experts. Randomness that you actually have to pay attention to to craft it.

Touching on the market flood of stacks of items. DOn't forget that DC visit will be a thing soon. So those same bot/third party crafters will now flood other markets in DC's now. (This is partly touching on botting and what not with my reply). But they should honestly stop cross world gil trading. That would alleviate some of the issues with bot crafting.

If you think I want to craft 500 hq pots by hand you're out of your mind.

Saying that however I wouldn't be opposed to non consumables and items that aren't used in other crafting recipes being made more like expert ones. Part of me does miss that gut wrenching feeling when a craft failed or the hype when it succeeds.

But yeah not on consumables or mats used to make other crafts.

Titanwomen again huh? First of all... What makes you think ARR and HW don't use Macros? I've seen plenty of old guides and videos on the topic.

Also what makes you think bots won't manage to deal with expert crafts?

The bots already have logic scripts to solve expert crafts.

I feel like if they want to prevent people from completely monopolizing markets they'd need to create material scarcity through spiritbound and/or time-gated materials, though that creates its own problems.

Not that I disagree in that the current crafting system is a poultry version of itself. ARR and HW just had artificial difficulty in that you were fighting against RNG more than you were fighting against anything else. But consistently, macros have always been a thing, really. The only difference now compared to back then is an inflated and increasingly large CP pool we can draw from to execute abilities and a stronger sense of community/support than we did back then in addition to a more prominent simulator. Realistically, crafting was actually at its best during Stormblood, if I had to give my personal opinion.

With respect to all crafts become expert recipes. Now whilst something like this is good on paper, you need to realize that bots can still perform the necessary logic functions to complete these crafts. Realistically, you punish the legitimate players more than you do botters. Bots have no sense of exhaustion, and nor do they have any sense of time, which is a key factor with things such as experts, especially when you look more towards consumables.

I don't think they really need to inflate the 'difficulty' again, they just need to incorporate more creative ways which can make crafting a whole lot more rewarding than it once was, especially when you look more toward the materials required for HW crafts. The scope of materials used was much greater than it was today. It would be nice for them to breathe some life into this once again by reintroducing the favor/concealed nodes system which was prominent in the earlier days of HW (Albeit not on a capped level - Red scrips were capped back then btw). In addition to reusing items from desynthesis like the demimateria, or the materials from Grand Company. Materially speaking they've gone far too streamlined, difficulty speaking... Ehhh that's difficult. I suppose crafting in SB vs crafting now wasn't much more difficult, personally, barring the fact you had a wider ability pool to draw from, and an intriguing and rewarding system in that you had Whistle While You Work, which made manually crafting on low stats a very viable solution if you were willing to take the course of learning the system itself -- In fact, the removal of the whistle system coinciding with the expert recipe system is one of the biggest missed opportunities the developers have made with respect to crafting. With the Whistle system, it would allow for macro-based crafting to scale around higher stats, or for those on higher stats to require HQ materials, and then something such as Whistle could be used if you wanted to do it without. -- I will argue tooth and nail that Whistle was one of the best and more intricate systems they had for crafting.
