    Gamepad keys configuration (especially "open item menu")

    Hello,

    using a gamepad in FFXIV is a bit limited at the moment, how about allowing to map any action to a gamepad key just like it is possible for keyboard? Or at least add an "open item menu" key to the list in the config dialogue, since unless I'm missing something, currently you can only open it with mouse/keyboard.

    DEVS! Get rid of the button to access "/emotes" from the gamepad and replace it with "use item menu"

    I think the "/emote" function button is the most useless function on a gamepad, to the point where i wish i could just delete that binding altogether.

    I agree with removing emote key in favor of an "open item menu" key. Scrolling trough the emote list takes ages anyway and it would be faster to just type it in.

    True key mapping would be awesome for controllers. I for one would love in particular to have the menu / targeting separated from each other. I can't see that it would be that difficult to have the d-pad dedicated to menu navigation when a menu is open... but when it isn't, I'd like to map the keys where I dang well want them.

    My feelings on controller usage: First redesign the ui, a layout for keyboard users, a layout for controller users. Second, when in battle instead of having to scroll through your actions to select them map them to keys. Ie triangle=action one, etc... more or less somewhat similar to dragon age system. You would get 4 action keys, press the right and left shoulder buttons for a second and third selection of 4 more each, this would be better imo( I often skip over the wrong action when fighting). Have two controller layouts, like you did in xi sorta, one for combat one for world map. A gathering/synth keybind would be nice as well. Yes an item use key also needs on that list. Over all... I hate using mouse and keyboard, especially for casters. But there needs to be more functionality for controller users.

    You have a great point.. who needs an emote button.. seriously... If it didn't start battle reg, I'd unmap it and use Joy2Key to assign it something else.... I also unassigned the first person view button and used Joy2Key to assign that button "F11" which is target the nearest MOB

    You know... that does sound good... A completely different control set when in battle than you have when running around.... Why would you not do that SE?
    Also different controls for K&M vs controller.... I love it

    Uuh.. actually I really like being able to open the emote list with a button press, I'd be pretty miffed if that were removed -.- Certainly the option to open the item menu, or anything else, with a button press would be fine but don't just assume nobody uses these functions just because you don't..
