Me. My character is rad and everyone has a crush on me. It's canon, at least as far as these forums will have you believe.

Urianger – I've loved seeing him develop from the weird guy on the sidelines to the still-weird-but-embracing-it key member of our team.
I know some people hold his secret-keeping against him, but I feel like that's unfair in the long term. He had good reason in the first instance, was forced into it in the second and the third time he basically says, "no, I can't do this again, and last time it wasn't necessarily the best solution in the end." It's character growth as he realises he can rely on us instead of keeping everything to himself.
A Realm Reborn: Gaius, Livia, Lahabrea, Arenvald.
Heavensward: Regula, Estinien, Thancred.
Stormblood: Yotsuyu, Fordola, Varis, Hien, Magnai, Sadu.
Shadowbringers: Emet-Selch, Vauthry, Elidibus, Ardbert.
Endwalker: Jullus.

G'raha Tia – both as his younger self and the Exarch. I think it's easier to regard them as separate characters to a degree, and not consider 5.3-onwards G'raha to be a continuation of the Exarch's personality and calmer demeanour, but a return to his younger self getting all those memories but not having the full lived experience to develop the same confidence from it yet. (I wish they explored his mindset a bit more thoroughly on this, but that chance seems to have passed and he just is who he is now.)
I liked him back in CT to begin with – not at the very beginning, but by the end of that story arc, and felt like he seemed good friends with my character. So having him return in Shadowbringers was great, and he went through so much for us.
And now he's just a loveable dork.

Characters who have left lasting impressions on me:
Midgarsormr
Ardbert, and also Seto. They are a package deal.
Gaius
Emet Selch
Delta
Sadu
G'raha Tia
Zenos
Menphillia. Yeah I said it. I like her. Fight me.

I think personal lore for our character's is not only fun, but also important in order to put a paint brush to the mostly blank canvas that is our character. Nothing wrong with everyone crushing on your character if that's how you see it. I know I have a thing about my own character where everyone who meets her and discovers who she is can't wrap their heads around her being the WoL and the realm's champion. Before thinking it has to do with her looking like a princess; it has more to do with that there doesn't seem to be anything special about her. Just an average Midlander girl. She would say it gives you a distinctive advantage in combat if someone expecting a bee, fights like a hornet... or a dragon.

Ardbert is by far my favorite character. He went from simple adventurer to a warrior of light, then a warrior of darkness, then a powerless ghost for a hundred years, to finally merge with my WoL in a absolute magistral cutscene. I can’t think of anything that come close to the legendary quote :*«*Take it, we fight as one!*». It was the most memorable moment I’ve ever had in FF14.
Edit: I miss Ryne, she was my ShB little sunshine. Also Giott and Captain Lyna. I realize now that I miss the First a lot.
