Why is it so much harder to climb out of bronze than it is to climb to crystal?

Recently I made it to crystal, after 142 wins
what I noticed is that 88 of those wins were me trying to get out of bronze tier
that is over half of my games were me trying to get out of the first tier
in comparison it took me less than 22 wins to go from diamond 5 to my promotion match to crystal
This seems really counterintuitive, if Ranked is meant to be a test of your skill, every loss is a skill issue, and you are always the only constant, how come it's so much easier to climb in higher tiers than it is in bronze?
Is the skill level in bronze so so much higher than the skill level in diamond and crystal?

I'm not the only one who experienced this, a lot of my friends report the same tier hell in bronze that only gets better the higher they climb.

Primarily because the higher in rank you go the more basic competency and general knowledge of the game mode your teammates will have. Anything from basic stuff like understanding how Overtime works to more nuanced stuff like knowing not to shoot at an enemy at full health when your teammate(s) are low and pursuing one of the health potions on the ground. As people start to understand these things, they are more likely to win, and thereby get to higher ranks making for a much more coordinated/less chaotic fight.

Silver was a nightmare for me. But once I got out of it and into Gold/Platinum, team play became much more consistent. At least until I hit Diamond where the inverse seemed to occur and now I'm playing with people who seem to forget that Ninja/Dragoon should be primary xD

Bronze is a noob fest. No other way of putting it. And they will drag you down with their sinking ship.

In addition to what the others have already said - I'd speculate that perhaps you're playing a more team-reliant job. Certain jobs are very strong when they have at least a basic level of support from their team, but struggle without that. Certain other jobs are very self-reliant, have a lot of burst they can do themselves or so on - and don't need a team as much. These can climb out of the lower ranks more easily (but may fall off as one climbs, especially if they continue using solo tactics).

Because you were bad while you were in bronze and after enough experience you got out. That or you played a job with little carry potential and you switched eventually and escaped.

That's funny. In gold, I find people to be even more brain dead. I literally have been stuck at Gold 4 for two days now. Whoever designed this system is so incompetent

I've found that Gold is where hope goes to die. You could perform the best you can, you can give it your all, play your job as well as you can, contest the crystal and it will still not matter because your team doesn't understand that kills don't mean shit if you don't play the objectives.

For real. This entire week I've been trying to climb up from Gold 4, managed to reach Gold 3 (right before Gold 2) before I got into a losing spree which brought me back to the bottom from which I haven't been able to climb up from. 1 win 1 loss 1 win 1 loss 2 wins 1 loss 3 wins 3 losses 1 win, etc. It's legit soul-crushing. It's giving elo hell from LoL.

Savor your victories in Silver, and pray that your luck is good enough in Gold to grant you consecutive competent teams for a win streak, because Gold is legit the graveyard of common sense for this game mode.

According to some people, it's all down to YOU, totally nothing to do with your team, nope, nada.

I had multiple days where I went from 1 win in silver to gold to back to the start. I have been win loss as well in gold right around 50%. Then the RNG blessed me with same PLD multiple matches and then the same ninja multiple matches. The PLD covering bought me the extra time I needed every encounter and the ninja always cleaned up after every tiem I LBed.

Everyone says how god tier whm is, but I must suck. If a MNK, WAR, Ninja, or DRG decide they want to sit on me all game I can barely do anything. Too much CC and can't get enough separation.

Oh also in sliver I have had the joy of being deleted by MCH ten times. I went four games in a row being instant killed. Now I think I have only seen it once in 20 games.

That's that propaganda at work. People are scared of what you can do, so they'll focus you.

Don't play WHM and they won't pay you as much attention.
