Most hated: Yotsuyu, Asahi, Zenos, Varis

I am glad that they are all death, especially Yotsuyu (I feared she would get a redemption arc...) and Zenos (I was so over him after Stormblood and wished he would have stayed death)

Disliked: Lyse and Gaius. Lyse was just annoying in Stormblood and her being made the leader was just not sitting well with me, since she basically was not even doing much for the resistance until that Expansion.

I also dislike Gaius because he got away way too easily for all the things he has done. Instead of being in prison he is bascially helping another government...I am not even sure if he would be on our side if the Ascians had not betrayed him. He was all about strenght and yet instead of using his own he needed the help of the Ultima weapon, killing his own soldiers with it too.

He's ugly & annoying
He's not very interesting & is the only man who can grow a full, healthy beard in all of Eorzea apparently.

I know you mean it in a funny way but I think at least the symbolism in relation to other Garleans is intentional.

Garlemald is a lot of Roman trappings. Romans believed a clean shaven face was a sign of a civilized person. To have long hair and a beard was a sign of poverty and savagery.

Contrast with the Greeks, where having a beard was a sign of wisdom.

There were some exceptions. When we see Midas, Cid's father, he has a beard. Young Cid at that time does not. But Midas had also proven himself by that point, so he could be eccentric. I believe I read about instances of other bearded Romans who were allowed the same eccentricities. Plus he wasn't exactly out and about among the populace. When Cid leaves, he doesn't get a beard right away, as we can see from Carteneau shots. He does have it by the time he's Marques. And as Marques and since then, he's been depicted as a wise and intelligent person. Just like how he would be in Greek society.

The Greek connection is interesting in light of everything we learned about the Ancients. We know they didn't have everything planned from that far back, but I do wonder how long they've planned connections to Greek society. Because it brings up some interesting questions about Garleans. They don't have access to aether. But we know now the general origin of races is from that same Greek-based society, though some new may have popped up to explain the Garleans. It's also possible the people of Gulg could have done something to lose their connection to aether. I know some are disappointed about not getting a Garlemald expansion but I think there's still some really interesting places they can go with Garleans and their origins.

Hauchfant or whatever. Literally could have never been in the game and nothing would have changed.

I can't stand Briardien from the Hildibrand and Scholasticate quests. To me, he is too serious in his attitude and also too ideal in being able to gather evidence and solves cases at the right times.

I think that's intentional. They felt like they were going for Hildy is Phoenix Wright to his Miles Edgeworth.

Interesting point regarding Alisaie there actually, since (as you say) she does seem to simp for the WoL but, interestingly, most who take issue with G'raha's admiration of the WoL don't seem to note that a point of dislike toward Alisaie.

I used to find her supremely annoying but it's become a bit less prominent as of late so she's fallen off my radar a bit.

Now i'm mostly meh about this, it isn't worth my time, but back in the day, a long time ago, i used to hate Minfilia a lot, because she was simply useless as fuck, and quite an annoyance.
