Have people mentioned Valens van Varro yet?

I'm adding in Sicinius too. Just... Yeah no.

Valens was an abusive tyrant who tortured children.
Sicinius was a psychopatic scientist who tortured Hrothgars, hooked them into servant machines, and when his best test subject couldn't handle it anymore, he injected his memories onto other Hrothgar. And when THAT didn't stick, he took those Hrothgar and performed surgeries on them, disfiguring them into looking like the original test subject just so that the memories stuck.

Like, that's messed up. Valens is disgusting and not even his death was cathartic. The way he treated his subjects was horrible, but doing it to kids was just the absolute worst.
But Sicinius? That garbage got away scott-free. Lyon and Pagaga bust him out and he not only walks around freely, he has the original Bozjan weapons AND he's done the same to Hyurs. Turning THEM into someone else. And we're none the wiser, because it's all hush-hush. We never get to punch his teeth in. There was no justice like there "was" for Valens.

Guys like those two make me feel like it would probably be in the best interests of the Eorzean Alliance to make sure the remaining legions aren't letting any loonies conduct similar experiments over in the still occupied provinces.

I can't help wonder how the characters mentioned in this thread - Scions or not - would feel reading all of this and seeing their friend/foe WoLs talking like this about them. Reactions would be funny to see, especially of the Scions.

There was the whole dynamic of her being my boss but she was really friendly and familiar with the WoL. On top of that she had her own connection with Hydaelyn, so I didn't know if Hydaelyn was trying to hook us up or something. I'm not interested lady. I just didn't know what she wanted from me and I was filled with anxiety every time she told me to return to the Waking Sands. I have to admit I breathed a sigh of relief when she was removed from the story.

Imo there are 3 main categories for "disliking" a character:

• A - the character is intentionally made to be dislikable: Asahi being a yandere, Fandaniel being Asahi with a Joker complex, Valens being a full blown psycopath, pretty much the entirety of Bozja...
  
  
• B - the narrative screw the character over: Yda being actually Lyse and becoming the front and center of the resistance despite Raubahn being right there, Y'shtola being a walking exposition device with nearly no personality, even Zenos may go here cuz I feel they didn't know what to do with that guy from the very beginning.
  
  
• C - the character is simply obnoxious or cringe, whether it was intentional or not: the constant infantilization of Lalafell characters like Tataru or Nanamo despite both being well into their 20's, or just about anyone in the Hildi questline.

Zenos and Fandaniel for taking advantage of the civil war in Garlemald and destroying it in the process.

Golbez for letting his fiends feast on Azdaja’s aether.

Valens.

Asahi and Yotsuyu’s adoptive parents. Makes you wonder what she could’ve become if her biological parents were alive. Likely her Tsuyu self.


Also the Ala Mhigans who hurled rocks at Fordola and her family. Insufferable lot.
