Oh I don't disagree - I would've preferred that Hydaelyn hadn't been a boss fight, personally. I'd have preferred her to have judged us by the outcome of a fight with the genuine Zodiark rather than fight us herself. It's still problematic. Everything makes sense from a story perspective, but it doesn't feel satisfying.
Even with Meteion as the twist villain, Zodiark should've had the spotlight for a bit. Zodiark was the build up of a large portion of the series. EW should have been his arc, and then Meteion should've been the next expansion with the in between patch stories getting us to that point.

They honestly just did him very dirty this expansion, the famous subvert expectations. I was hoping for something more engaging but nope. Just big bad prisoner dies and gives an excuse for not so good characters to take the spotlight.Zodiark. Hyped to the bones, made us think he is the most powerful evil being. Even if he was in imperfect form, he should be much stronger and bigger than the one we encountered. He got slapped for less than 10 minutes and "oh nooo i die" even in extreme difficulty. He is so dumb, only thing he did was spinning the arena around and calling meteor. Guess what else can call meteor? Behemoths. A trash mob. I expected insta death, doom heavy kind of fight where healers need to use LB3 and spam those dispells in extreme.
How many times does it have to be said that minfilia is like a sister him? Something he already said back in HW. ShB thancred basically is someone who have to choose between his sister and his daughter, and in the end he had to experience losing his sister for the second time. At least try to sympathize with that.
Also why do you all act like he's super abusive to ryne? His cold act was not something he did for the whole time he was with ryne. And he was rightful to be angry at her since she run away and danger herself to meet us, nearly captured by ranjit in the process.
We can empathize with him, but sympathy? debatable. Not gonna lie, Thancred lost some of my respect after seeing how emotionally damaged Ryne was and imo him dying against Ran'jit would've been a good closure to his Minfilia arc.How many times does it have to be said that minfilia is like a sister him? I don't hate him, mind you, I just wish we could've at least called him out on his Sasukeness instead of only judging him silently, as per usual.
I despise Hermes the most. What a pathetic, sad, hypocritical excuse of a human being and a villain. A psychopath who destroyed more than one civilization if we count his reincarnations while blaming society for his problems(and doing everything he accuses them of himself but even worse). It’s a shame that his soul was not completely destroyed in the end and he still has a chance to get reborn.

Me, the WoL
Just nodding my way through life. I am the most insufferable character.
Family Medicine doctor.
Constantly learning.
Signature art by @simanokoB on Twitter. Thank you!
Definitely Asahi. Annoying, boring, and he looks too much like the villain from that Lorax movie with the hipster Once-ler.

In all my time playing the Game, id say the only character I truly disliked, was Grynewaht
I honestly can't think of a character I straight up hate, specifically. I guess I'd say I could take or leave Y'shtola. She's largely okay, but I tend to forget she exists half the time. (I visited all the Scions after they parted ways at the end of 6.0 and I honestly forgot to look for her.)
She can be funny or interesting at times, but she usually functions as an "exposition dump" type of character and I wish she was a bit more complex. On the bright side, I got to hear her with a stuffy nose during 6.1 due to her english voice actor clearly having a cold. It was pretty funny, I must say.

I hated Zenos because he's passed off as an uneducated bastard child that wanted to kill the WoL for sport and he couldn't think of anything else but that, but way worse than that, so many important plot elements circulated around him while having this passion for wanting to fight the WoL which ended up setting up endwalker as a result.
There are other faulty characters, for sure, some probably worse than zenos, but zenos will always stand out because they tied to so much to him and for so many reasons that will forever be PERSONAL TO ONLY HIM. Maybe if he wasn't such a delusional character I'd bump him up a tier but I can't get him out of my head when the whole game was trying to push the WoL to some grand finale Vs. Varis and stopping him from releasing Black Rose poison upon the world, which, from a land grab perspective, also wasn't a smart idea because he'd end up killing off his own people as well.
The plot twists this game has...jesus...
And don't get me started on what happened in the second half of ARR before the WoL goes to ishgard. I'm sorry I saved your lands since you're all stupid enough to believe I'd assassinate your queen after putting myself in a dozen or so near-death experiences.
i'm surprised the WoL hasn't gone full-rambo yet.
