Most Hated XIV Character

As the title says, what's your most hated XIV character. I personally loathe Y'shtola. She is by far the dullest, most static character ever given mascot status. No growth til 3 expansions in, and then they walk that back for more generic motivations.

Zenos, because if you had to pinpoint where they story starts falling off you can pretty easily point to his character as the turning point.

I would've agreed with you at one time, but I honestly feel that Endwalker improved on his character and I felt differently about him after that.

I don't hate Y'shtola, but I do think she's overrated and has little personality.

i think they salvaged his character pretty well

As for me, hate is a strong word but i'd say y'shtola, as much as i love her personality/design the way the writers use her is annoying. They keep baiting her death and it got old a while ago

I agree. EW did a lot for Zenos's character.

Besides that, I think a lot of people just hated him because he was part of a bunch of unwinnable fights in SB. The whole "strong character wants to fight strong opponents" is also a bit of an overused troupe, although I don't think it's that bad here.

Y'shtola and G'raha at this point both feel like fanservice characters. The death baiting doesn't feel too bad for Y'shtola personally because it's not just her death that's been baited at this point.

But were they ever not??

G'raha I can give a hard pass on that because as the CT boy and the Exarch he had a bit more to him than just being a cool character for the sake of it. But he definitely devolved into that the moment Endwalker began.

Y'shtola hasn't done anything worth a darn other than kill herself every time something's needed of her. "Fountain of knowledge" my front bottom; all the knowledge she can provide is stuff we either can come up with or other people can provide as well. "She can see through aether", yes, great, and what else? To tell us that the thing in the Tower of Zot was a dismembered man? Great, we ended up knowing about it later on regardless.

Right? ngl, the writers using Y'shtola as a barely disguised exposition tool is...rather annoying. Like, ok, she's smart, I can get behind her being deductive, but it's one thing to be right about a theory you're puzzling together, and another to practically break the 4th wall explaining - in great detail - what's going on, and then slap "but that's just what I think" at the end. No girl, you didn't assume or guess anything, you knew!
