I normally queue Expert as my healer. When I get this dungeon, I let out that same sigh, because I know it will be a shit show whether or not there is a new player. However, I try to mitigate the show's performance by explaining the mechanics to them while moving to the bosses. If they die to Necrosis, I raise them and explain it again. I really try to not let someone die to this, but I've also been in groups that have hit the other three, and I just can't cleanse that fast, which leads me into the second issue of this dungeon. It isn't people new that's mostly been the issue - it's the laziness of other players that expect the healer to bail them out of everything known to man in the dungeons.

Sorry, but that just won't happen with me. Sure, I heal through normal mechanics when there are unavoidable mechanics that requires it. If someone makes a mistake, sure I will heal them. But when DPS just blatantly stands in bad, they are going to suffer those consequences. If they don't move out of the AOE on that first boss when there are obvious avenues and they know the fight, and get Necrosis, they can eat it. When they stand in the bad nasty, non-forgivable damage tick from standing next to the second boss, I am not going to rescue them from it. When they continue to stand in the small black circles on trash mobs on the way to the last boss, if they happen to get an AoE heal, then good for them, they were lucky enough to make it.

On the last boss, if they want to keep chasing the boss around on Prance and keep getting vulns, the best way to clear those vuln stacks out is let them die. If they want to stand in the path of the butterflies, well I hope they like Doom. If they ignore the single wing and keep standing there, good luck with that.

You can only do so much before you let people learn from their own pains. How much pain it takes before they learn is up to them. I can't stress this enough though - explain the fights if you know the mechanics. You've done the due diligence. Make a macro if you need to in order to explain those fights - that's what I do - I have more macros explaining Copied Factory than I do any other macro. I have macros explaining new mechanics. I let party members in raids know to speak up if they have questions. Best you can do is explain it. If they are learning it, give them a break. If they are being lazy, that's on them, not me.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Maat is probably doing spinning kicks in his grave at how shoddy the average standard of play in this game is

There will always be that one dungeon. Dead Ends isn't the worst of it though. It's dungeons beyond that where people are supposed to be more well-versed at being 90 and fail.

I've seen such horrors in Stigmascape... like a WHM that didn't want to be rezzed during the final boss fight, along with a warrior that couldn't be bothered to Nascent at least one DPS to keep them going.

Alzadaal had a DRK that charged off with no stance and immediately hit Living Dead once everything was together and still struggled after that first wipe.

I can't say I see this much at all. The biggest issue is generally the first boss and their second Miasma wind because of the donut that you have to do first since everyone forgets about it and lines up for the wind then have to rush in for the donut and then back out again for the wind. It's not common but I usually see a bit of panic there and maybe a death on occasion. Otherwise it's pretty much always a smooth run. When I first fought Peacekeeper I thought it would be terrible for DF but everyone seems to handle it perfectly fine. *shrug*

I know Crystal is usually maligned for being the "bad" DC but I really do constantly wonder where everyone is finding these masses of terrible players they always end up being forced to play with.

I'd be all for that although there would probably be complaints of content being "skill-gated." If it teaches a player to learn his class and helps them prepare for more difficult content, then I think everyone wins here.

Maat is too busy being steamrolled in XI. In hindsight I miss when Maat gave my rdm ptsd. I would love more than anything for a prenerf Maat fight in XIV. Mr. Manderville and his wife are always up for a fight, just saying...

My nickname for this dungeon is “Depression”. I don’t like getting it because it’s just so depressing and I am done with it. I play this game to feel better and not wallow in despair.

From a story perspective, it does it’s job really well and it’s a well designed dungeon, I just don’t think it has a place in the Expert roulette as it makes no sense after you finish the 6.0 MSQ. I would have had it at 59 and just had two Expert dungeons instead of three.

it isnt needed for someone to learn their job even at 90 as crazy as that sounds. the games content is so easy that people dont have to be good.

Crystal is an AWFUL DC to do anything other than CT in Alliance Raids.

30 minute queue for any of the 3 NieR, and then you can expect a full shitshow.

I had never ever had a group wipe in Red Girl hacking phase, but hey, they managed to give me the experience of it.

Never had Hobbes nor 9S wipe on the dps check, yet the tanks were stacking the adds for no reason and we wiped.

And yet there's people that miserably fail at it and demands nerfs (steamrollin)
