I normally queue Expert as my healer. When I get this dungeon, I let out that same sigh, because I know it will be a shit show whether or not there is a new player. However, I try to mitigate the show's performance by explaining the mechanics to them while moving to the bosses. If they die to Necrosis, I raise them and explain it again. I really try to not let someone die to this, but I've also been in groups that have hit the other three, and I just can't cleanse that fast, which leads me into the second issue of this dungeon. It isn't people new that's mostly been the issue - it's the laziness of other players that expect the healer to bail them out of everything known to man in the dungeons.
Sorry, but that just won't happen with me. Sure, I heal through normal mechanics when there are unavoidable mechanics that requires it. If someone makes a mistake, sure I will heal them. But when DPS just blatantly stands in bad, they are going to suffer those consequences. If they don't move out of the AOE on that first boss when there are obvious avenues and they know the fight, and get Necrosis, they can eat it. When they stand in the bad nasty, non-forgivable damage tick from standing next to the second boss, I am not going to rescue them from it. When they continue to stand in the small black circles on trash mobs on the way to the last boss, if they happen to get an AoE heal, then good for them, they were lucky enough to make it.
On the last boss, if they want to keep chasing the boss around on Prance and keep getting vulns, the best way to clear those vuln stacks out is let them die. If they want to stand in the path of the butterflies, well I hope they like Doom. If they ignore the single wing and keep standing there, good luck with that.
You can only do so much before you let people learn from their own pains. How much pain it takes before they learn is up to them. I can't stress this enough though - explain the fights if you know the mechanics. You've done the due diligence. Make a macro if you need to in order to explain those fights - that's what I do - I have more macros explaining Copied Factory than I do any other macro. I have macros explaining new mechanics. I let party members in raids know to speak up if they have questions. Best you can do is explain it. If they are learning it, give them a break. If they are being lazy, that's on them, not me.
