The Dead Ends: The Dungeon that gives unending despair

I am so ready for this dungeon to not be in expert roulette anymore.

I load into it and let out an audible sigh because its going to be a shit show.

Don't have a new party member notice at least it can't be that bad. Nope, it never is.

I feel like 80% of the time I get this dungeon at least one party member, maybe two are general morons who can't do the simple mechanics. As I queue as a dps it is normally a tank or healer sadly which snowballs into multiple wipes on each boss.

I have tried to mitigate this by switching to RDM for expert roulette. It helps but only so much when you rez the tank or healer and watch them immediately die to the next mechanic then leave you with aggro to eat the tank buster.

My rant here is not against the difficulty of the dungeon, because it isn't really hard, but it is a step in the right direction for the game. The rant is about how the general player base has gotten so bad at the game that a casual dungeon content becomes nightmarish.

Square, please do something to make players actually have to learn to do mechanics in the solo content of MSQ patches so they don't fall over the dead anytime a mechanic more complex than don't stand in the bad shows up.

It's a long shot to hope for this but we can still hope. There's a lot for SE to fix in terms of balancing dungeon and boss difficulty, and I'm not sure if we'll ever see that.

The question I have is...

Is it players being genuinely mindboggling bad, or players just not caring whatsoever. You can force someone to care and act in solo content as much as you like, but you can't enforce that self-same mentality in grouped content.

If a player doesn't care and does the bare minimum then that is all they shall do, regardless of how much you try and force learning. Teaching a person to care is sadly something that is a very difficult task to undertake, sadly.

MSQ is so mindnumblingy easy, you never have to learn anything beyond pressing 1 2 3 outside of dungeons and trials, where bad players who spend all their time ded, just get carried through it, and don't look back. you are never really challenged to the point where you need to try in solo duties either. and in the few cases you do, the game immediatly offers you a very easy difficulty upon failing

As much as I like the msq in this game, the amount of talking vs combat is so one sided, that you sometimes forget you are playing a game

I'm very guilty of this since expert dungeons are so underturned not so much in Dead Ends but Similton and Sigma I will collect dummy stacks because it gives me something to use my mits on.

It'll just move on to the next dungeon people aren't immediately experts at. Instead of being too many people getting hit by the second boss's overlapping AoEs in the Dead Ends, it'll be too many people getting hit by second boss's overlapping AoEs in Alzadaal's Legacy.

I just find the Dead Ends so miserable from a lore perspective. Like, I know that's sort of the point, and it kind of works at that place in the story (though I don't like how it bounces from one story to another and none of them are personal to us) but it is just miserable to experience over and over.

The prospect of getting it again has totally put me off running Expert at the moment, and the lack of glamour from those first tier dungeons means I have no motivation at all to run them.

I love Dead Ends precisely because it's a shit show. I mostly heal Experts so it gives me something to do.

My favorite was the WAR tank who didn't mitigate anything and collected 5 fun stacks on the 2nd boss. I let him die to auto attacks, then fat shielded the SMN so they could survive the tankbuster.

It's really impressive how many people get to 90 and learn absolutely nothing at all about playing their job or role.
