So you're saying that there are no SAM players, who still enjoy the job post-kaiten removal? The posts here on the forums from SAM players, are a very minute fraction of the total base amount of SAM players across the playerbase of FFXIV, so taking the voices of the few, to speak for the many, is absurd.
As is taking the voices of the exactly zero people who have come out in unanimous support of these changes to "speak for the many", as delivered by someone who has not so much as unlocked the job to understand what is causing this deluge of feedback.
The samurai mains who stopped playing samurai because of 6.1 did so explicitly because they used to "enjoy SAM for what it is" and now don't.Don't worry, all the SAM "Mains" will come back to playing SAM once it becomes META again.
Till then, all these SAM "Mains" will gravitate towards whatever job that places high on a certain not to be mentioned website, as well as dominates on a certain damage indicating addon that also is not to be mentioned.
But the players, who enjoy SAM for what it is, and offers them, will continue to play their favorite job, and look forward to brighter days.
Know how you can tell? Because samurai was underperforming since 6.0, so anyone who only cared about dps wouldn't be playing it in the first place - they'd be playing reaper or monk.
Your assertion that this has anything to do with the meta is unfounded and absurd.
From 6.0 to 6.08 I played samurai despite it underperforming, and since 6.1 I've been playing dancer - so meta.
I hung up SAM with the 6.0 changes. 6.1 only confirmed my fear of where they were going with SAM. I still didn't see no reason to quit the game, and it saddens me that players will invest so much into one job. Jobs/classes falling out of favor, and back again is pretty normal for mmos. All I did was hang up my Katana for now, and wrapped my fists. Good to go.
If they make changes to SAM in the future that will entice me to play it again I will do so. Not happening in its current iteration though.
Those people, are most likely, too busy playing the game to come to the forums to stomp their feet in protest.
IF the only thing holding SAM together was Kaiten, then the job was doomed anyways.
IF people suddenly lost interest due to the removal of Kaiten, then they weren't playing for enjoyment, they where playing SAM for the damage it was capable putting out.
Also Dancer is used pretty consistently in top end Raiding, so yes META.
My sub ran out on Tuesday. If there really is a 2 week timer then congratulations, you only have to put up with me for 10 more days.
It's amazing how many stages of grief some people go through when someone openly proclaims to have quit a game they play. I've seen anger, bargaining, and a lot of denial recently. Not a lot of depression and acceptance though, I see that more in the SAM camp so far.
That's like saying that if a capstone is the only thing that holds an arch together, then the arch is doomed anyway. No, it's just integral to the design.
Again, samurai was underperforming between 6.0 and 6.08, so anyone who was maining samurai wasn't doing it for the damage output - anyone who picked their main based off dps wouldn't have been playing samurai and wouldn't care about the 6.1 changes.
Almost every job is consistently used in top end raiding - that doesn't make almost every job meta, it just means the ones that are excluded because of anti-synergies are getting screwed.
Meta would be if a job is taken because it's overperforming or has specific niche value in a certain fight - dancer's personal dps is the lowest of any dps in the game and their overall contribution even counting their buffs is still below average - that's about as far from meta as you can get.
This point spouted by ignorants like the one you responded to is pretty funny. You can substitute anything for that comparison. How about
"If breathing oxygen is the only thing keeping you alive, then you are doomed anyway".
Kaiten was the "oxygen" for the life of samurai. It made samurai feel like samurai. Now the job named samurai is dragoon with a katana and no group buffs.
