NPCs around the Firmament during Ishgard Restoration

The one most people know of is the guy hanging off ledges and getting saved by his buddy at the end. I've heard there's one with a woman and child who end up moving in with an elezen man. And I heard there's something of Aymeric walking around in an elephant suit?

Anyone here have screenshots of these little stories happening with the NPCs during each patch? Trying to compile them into one place haha.

I don't have a screenshot on hand, but I do remember early on there was a Temple Knight that used to chase two children at the gate back to Foundation - they'd run in, run around the square for a bit, then run back through the gate. It was interesting to me because it was clearly referencing some similar npcs from FFVII - specifically at Gold Saucer where a GS employee would chase two children around the various parts of the park (one wonders why SE didn't have these NPCs actually at Gold Saucer here in FFXIV in the first place, but, I guess they didn't want to be too literal).

For Aymeric you need to have finished Endwalker. I'm not sure whether he shows up in the Firmament. He shows up in the housing wards at three locations and also showing up are some NPCs to comment on this.

As for the Firmament, there's of course also Maillie and the other orphans.

Also this revelation adds a new layer to those job offers he’s been annoying Estinien with. Estinien mentioned something about Aymeric saying he’d have fans or people who’d be interested in seeing him. I now wonder if the job offers included dressing up like a Disney mascot. XD No wonder he was so opposed. I now don’t blame him for avoiding Aymeric nearly as much as I used to.


For the Firmament, I know I’ve seen the Vath Deftarm pop in occasionally. I saw him walk to the board that listed reconstruction progress at the mendicants court, with a speech bubble talking about how he’s looking for work to do. I think I also maybe saw him walk around near the center of the zone. I’ve finished the vath tribe quests (tho not gotten the HW tribal capstones yet). I dunno if that’s a requirement to see him.

I remember the Vath coming in! I also don't know if it's required that one has finished the Vath quests, I did so I can't say for others who did not.

Go to the Risensong Rookery! There’s a cute interaction that sometimes spawns with the Azure Elephant!

All of the Aymeric events seem to be random chance triggers, though I haven't determined if you need to rezone for them to be able to appear if they don't show up the first time you approach a given area.

It's a silly nod to some missable post-Endwalker dialogue from Estinien (Specifically, talk to him again after your little heart to heart just before the credits roll) where he states he was planning sending Aymeric an elephant suit as his response to being offered a position as an Empyreum guard and jokes that he'd be the talk of the town if he did guard duty in the costume. He does seem like the sort who'd take a jest seriously for the sake of vexing somebody.
