More or less, I thought the rotation is ok. Only thing that kills it for me is that stupid Royal Authority animation.

For me it’s the Requiescat combo, I know it’s part of the lore but spamming ice flakes… bruh

Its very unforgiving. One mistep can shift the entire rotation out of party buffs and you will just wish the group wipes so you can try again. It has multiple openers that allow for flexibility but actually doing the rotation is a pain. The button bloat the job has shows it really needs a full rework.

I fear any actual "rework" paladin would get, I like the job generally being punishing, I like its rotation in general.
I'm fine with paladin being a bit too janky for its own good in some areas, I don't want it to feel like warrior 2.0, Paladin players generally really like the job, I think if others don't like it for its differences that's fine but why bother changing paladin to be more like the other tanks, when people already have the other tanks to pick up.

I'm fine with a rework, but not going off any rework change that's lately be implemented, I don't want it to just become more simple. Sure there will be more paladin players (it's common to see the more forgiving classes more played) but the people who liked paladin for what it is aren't really going to be happy, theirs nothing like paladin in the game, where as most tanks just feel too similar to me.
Theirs lots I'd like changed about paladin such as divine veil being annoying, cover being super niche and unuseful most the time, Theirs a lot of changes I'd be happy to see but i don't want the core of Paladin to generally be changed up too much.

Also I saw comments saying they wanted paladin spells to be removed
I really don't understand anyone wanting paladin to have no spells? Paladin would honestly lose a lot of it's charm and ascetic as a "holy knight", It's a big part of Paladin and I don't know why anyone who plays/enjoys paladin would want spells removed from paladin.
I guess you could say because spell speed doesn't mix with skill speed but generally idk why spell speed and skill speed aren't merged for jobs like paladin (and drk for unmend and aoe).

I think in general complexity is good for the game we should have a mix of easy to pick up jobs and more skilled jobs, it's good it works for everyone, not everyone has to main paladin if you don't enjoy it you will likely enjoy something else, Paladin doesn't need to be like every other tank.

I'll add that yes I enjoy paladins rotation, it's not perfect either imo. But it's a really fun rotation for me. I generally like how different it is, its not just "big angry burst phase" oh back to my 1, 2, 3 It feels really fun for me i generally it, I could see some changes to it being good but in general I don't think it needs a massive rework or any big changes to its core rotaiton.

    1. Make atonement to be a combo (with 3 animations) available while the buff is up. That will make it more dynamic and fun to use.
    2. Change the snowflakes to something holy, like actual light, spectral blades like confiteor, or holy fire. This is honestly the worst visually to me and despite being “lore-accurate” completely feels off.
    3. Make divine veil not requiring a heal to trigger, make it also shields the paladin like all the raid-wide buffs from other tanks.
    4. Probably add another skill, as PLD falls behind other tanks because we have “utility”, except they’re super niche and not very good to justify this.

Generally these changes are fine, Paladins actual support kit needs changes mainly Cover and divine veil.
Holy spirits animation is alright to me? but sure could be changed i wouldn't have any real issues with that.

Talking about niche abilities I'm fine with clemency being niche in general, Its a great ability in the situations that its needed, it being a GCD makes it a choice outside your rotation (Sure you never wanna use it but theirs runs where picking up the slack from healers can help, ect.) I don't think pld needs another personal, but I wouldn't really be opposed to that

If Holy Sheltron were DMG mit instead of block(or have an extra DMG mit CD)along with veil putting a shield on the caster, then PLD would be in a great spot defensively. That would allow them to kitchen sink CDs effectively like the other tanks can.

If it had the above changes AND be able to use HG twice per fight like WAR can, then it would probably be the best defensive tank (how it should be).

I mean Knight's Resolve is literally 15% damage mitigation, block is 10-20% damage mitigation (typically in end game will be 20%) and can kitchen sink just as effectively. I agree with shield and heal applying to PLD from Veil, disagree with the above post about making Veil apply on press, Veil in some cases is actually better than the other equivalents, in that it's able to be pre-popped ahead of time to get better more strategic uses.

I mean technically most Savage fights will allow 2 uses of Hallowed Ground if planned, typically it's the third use onwards that isn't possible, compared to Holmgang and Living Dead, sometime Superbolide.

Honestly, the biggest thing Paladin and Warrior need, is actually a significant potency buff to bring their respective outputs more in line with the same aDPS of Dark Knight and Gunbreaker, especially in light of the tighter DPS checks of the new raid tier. Tanks should be brought not based on their damage output, but rather on which players feel more comfortable or enjoy playing.

Block from (Holy) Sheltron just feels awful, because you already get block via rng anyway.
Every time I use it I'm thinking "I might have blocked that anyway" so the skill feels borderline useless.

Compared to other tanks where it's a 100% additional 10-20% mitigation.

Then there's the Oath gauge, meaning you don't even have your on demand mitigation tool available unless you've hit the required number of physical GCDs.

As for the rotation, I've leveled to 89 now and I still don't understand it.
I get that you have three priorities, your Royal-Atonement combo, your Goring DoT combo, and you magic combo. But these don't have an intuitive order to them and don't seem to line up. You want your physicals during FoF which is obvious enough, but what about Goring? It's duration is pitiful so do I aim for 100% uptime or what?
By trying to feel it out logically, it seems like it should be Goring > Atonement > Goring > Atonement > Requiescat > Repeat. But that doesn't quite line up (Req ends up with 3-5s left on the CD by the time I'm ready for it) and it comes with the paradox of "do I open with my DoT or with the magic combo to make the most out of MP as a resource?"

Nothing about this rotation makes any logical, intuitive sense.
GNB on the other hand clicked instantly and always feels satisfying as every single cooldown gets hit on milisecond it's available again.
