I was very excited to play RPR when EW came out.
And kinda surprised that its skill sets resemble some of SAM's.
Both jobs have movement skills going forward and backward.
But RPR doesn't need a target and it can be used more freely during the fight and also during a non-combat situation when you are just running around the city. And it even gets a portal so you can go back to your original position within 10 seconds window.
And using that movement skill makes RPR's ranged attack spell an instant cast as long as you cast it within 20 seconds.
RPR's shield nullifies 10% of MAX HP for 5 seconds and when broken, it gives party members regen. And I am not even going to mention the enhanced arcane circle trait which gives RPR a special buff.

SAM's movement skills require a target. So a bit more hassle to use during combat and you cannot use it in non-combat situations. And it requires a resource to use the skill: 10 Kenki. Only the backstep movement skill gives a bonus potency buff to SAM's ranged attack skill.
SAM's shield skill lasts only 4 seconds (why 1-second difference compared to RPR??) and for the NEXT attack, you received 10% less damage. When you get hit, you get 10 kenki. Seriously?! just 10 kenki. It couldn't be 25?? or/and gives a stack of meditation or something??

I am not sure how it was okay to make a new job and gives it a better version of existing skills from an existing job. Quality of life changes for those skills is top-notch for the RPR. I am not sure why it didn't occur to SE that they should have made some QoL changes to SAM as well.
I don't know.... As a player who likes SAM, RPR seems just a superior version of SAM.
Almost insulting.
Don't get me wrong, I don't want every job to be similar but if SE wants to just copy paste skills to a new job at least make it fair for all jobs.
