I have a feedback thread for the portrait system running here:Why do I have to re-set the portrait literally every time I play pvp or else I risk having the default portrait that isn't even in my portrait collection anymore?
Am I doing something wrong?
I set the portrait to my gear set even and it seems to have done nothing. The portrait just doesn't work unless I click 'use as instant portrait' every time I change so much as a ring on my gear.
Admittedly, a very minor issue, but boy is it annoying me.

And yeah, going through a lot of the same frustrations. I assume they've gone into the mindset that – with the exception of your adventurer plate – your portrait is intended to illustrate what your character looks like right now and consequently the system is geared around going back to the default portrait if you've changed anything. Perhaps it's meant to be a safeguard in case the thing you change is your weapon and the new pose doesn't suit it.
Unfortunately all it does in practice is get really annoying that your portrait came unstuck because you changed your earrings.
You can link a portrait to a gearset and it will automatically be set as the instant portrait when equipped, but again the connection is tenuous. Updating the gearset removes the link. Equipping the gearset when one of the pieces has a different glamour on it removes the link. Changing your equipment after equipping the set still resets your current portrait to the default.
Good post. Don't have much to add, but thank you, that was insightful.I have a feedback thread for the portrait system running here:

I'm wondering if the issue has something to do with "shared" gear sets
On my alts I only level'd (or am in the process of leveling) one job per role
On my main I have everything at 90
Alts aren't having any issue with plates not working properly when I switch between their jobs at 90
The plates on my main always have issues when swapping between jobs
I even tried editing the portrait slightly before reapplying the portrait as the instance plate and relinking the gear set and it still has the little triangle error after swapping to another job and immediately swapping back to the job associated with the plate
Funnily enough how do we even know this is a bug? How do we know it's something that ISNT suppose to happen by design? Wait shoot...I forgot this is the official forum where folks will complain about anything and paint SE as one of the worst out there. My bad
I'm not seeing anyone (of those actually discussing the portrait system) attacking SE, just questioning the specific system which is indeed buggy and does some impractical and annoying things – but is also in beta form and so needs that feedback given.
