Guard in itself is fine as it is.

If anything, some of the guard-piercing effects from some of the Jobs should be nerfed a little, like the MNK Stunlock for example (which bypasses Guard).


As for the Crystal stalling shenanigans, doing so is a double edged sword, it might buy your Team the time it needs in order to make a comeback, but it is quite difficult to get out of there alive again, especially if the entire Team is humping the thing. Your best bet usually is to distract 1-2 of them into following you and let someone else contest the Crystal (depending on what Job you play).
