    A simple solution to guard / stalling the crystal problem

    I only play casual so I don't know if this is as much of an issue in ranked or not. I get a lot of games where it is one sided but the losing team basically sends people one by one to stall the winning teams crystal push. Most of the time they will spam all of their defensive cooldowns right before the crystal then hit guard when they are inside the circle. This usually buys enough time for the next person in line to do the same. I've had tons of lopsided matches such as 28 to 3 kills that last 4-5 minutes simply because of this. Like short of the winning team giving up there legit is no chance for the other team and all they are doing is wasting time before losing.

    My suggestion is to change guard so you do not count as being on the crystal while it is active.

    Another solution is to change it so having more people than the other team in the circle still moved it even if at a slower speed.

    Guard in itself is fine as it is.

    If anything, some of the guard-piercing effects from some of the Jobs should be nerfed a little, like the MNK Stunlock for example (which bypasses Guard).


    As for the Crystal stalling shenanigans, doing so is a double edged sword, it might buy your Team the time it needs in order to make a comeback, but it is quite difficult to get out of there alive again, especially if the entire Team is humping the thing. Your best bet usually is to distract 1-2 of them into following you and let someone else contest the Crystal (depending on what Job you play).

    Guard is so low on my list of things that are wrong with the mode that it's odd that anyone would really consider it needing a nerf with how many classes can counter it and how even when guarding they can be burst down. It's like saying "Well we're up by 2 points it's the end of the match, might as well tell the other team to go home."

    Is it annoying maybe? Sure, but it's "fair" to provide the other team with stalling methods and is one of the FEW ways to counter the lop sided team matches sometimes where they get roflstomped in the first encounter. I've had a team stall enough through this where I could come in with SGE LB and we pushed it back. Sure we lost THAT match but others we've won doing similar things to less extreme extents. With defensive play being in the shitter like it is I don't want any of my options taken away because people who have basically walked the crystal into the opposing teams yard have to fight for a bit longer lol.

    "4-5 minutes" is nothing.
